(Another) What would you do?

I bought a pile of stuff at Ikea yesterday using the self service checkout. It was a bit of a rush as they were about to close and my daughter wasn't feeling well and was fading before my eyes so I was a bit frazzled...

Anyway I was filing away the reciept this morning and it seemed too cheap for what I had bought. So I went through it and realised I missed paying for a huge mirror valued at $129. Not sure how.

I just called them to pay for it over the phone but they say I have to bring it back. WT...? That's a 20mins drive there, navigate my way through whilst trying to hold this heavy mirror, getting in the for their service area and then driving back.

What would you do?

Martinus did not have intent to steal, so, no Martinus is not a thief.

She has made attempts to pay for it but they have been rejected.

Martinus you can take the barcode lable and a pic of the item with you next time you go there again. and if that does not work enjoy your free mirror with a clear conscience.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Advise you to buy Australian made next time Smiley Wink

And that way you can pay twice what the item is worth 🙂

I don't mind paying twice as much for Australian made and often do. But I couldn't find a mirror that I liked. I had one custom made and it turned out completely different to the drawing of what I wanted.

But my second best option to Australian made is to buy from companies that have decent environmental, sustainable and social policies. And Ikea fits the bill there.

A policy like that is an excellent way to attract buyers like you.

So I can take something from a shop without the intention to steal if I offer to pay them back later.

Re: (Another) What would you do?

Ask for an Email addy and then take photos of the barcode and the mirror so they can see what you bought

and send that in?

If you can't then:

When you ring the manager tell them you will return it and want a receipt for doing so,(then go and buy one

elsewhere).

Re: (Another) What would you do?

When I was temporarily moving to Potland, I called and canceled my cable TV.  6 months later, I returned, and found it stilll on, despite my not being charged.  I called them twice more, with no results, so I figured 3 attempts was enough.  When I sold the house five years later, the new owners had free cable.

Re: (Another) What would you do?

sure you can, as long as you and the store agree on that contract. I would venture to say that most people have done that at sometime during their lives. Like when you have forgotten your wallet when you have got petrol at your regular servo for instance.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
