My dishwasher broke down over a year ago and I just never bothered to replace it.  I don't mind washing the dishes by hand but it is missed at times like Christmas and when you are doing a lot of food preparation for an occasion.

Anyway, I've been instructed to get a new one before the ex gets back next time.  The poor dear doesn't like to sit there and watch me wash the dishes 😄

I really like the idea of the dishdrawer type but only the Fisher and Paykel one is available here and some of the reviews are not good.  Does anyone else have the dishdrawer or can anyone recommend one that is really easy to load and does a good job?

Check out the water  & energy efficiency ratings on any dishwasher you want to buy.

The first lot of F&P dishdrawers were bad. For F & P  appliances if you need a repair you have to use their servicepeople. The service fee used to be around $120 then cost of any parts.

I have a basic Dishlex in this house, it probably uses heaps of water, but it does a good job.

Thanks everyone.  I'm still torn and trying to decide but the bosch and the dishdrawer seem to be top of my list now.  I hadn't thought of a Dishlex but I will check them out when I go for a look too.

Amber, that is what I really want too.  I want it to be installed and the old one to be taken away.  We have only just had a verge side pick up so I can't get rid of it that way for a while.

Ours was delivered by the seller (a major chain) and they were fine with taking the old one for no extra charge. That's a good thing to ask, too.

the installation was done by Mr Dishwasher, licensed plumbers...we needed a plumber as the old machine had a different tap setup.

the seller arranged that too, and both the delivery guy and the installer were on time and all done within two days of purchase.

Looked at the F and P two drawer model, but was very expensive and the Bosch does have a half load cycle to save water.

I recently purchased a dishwasher to replace my Westinghouse, given that it still works perfectly after 12 years, you might think I would buy another but no....................... the drawer runners were replaced 5 times throughout the first 6 years of it's life, several other plastic bits disintegrated over time as well.

So, as I have no intention of being so interested in household chores in future, I decided to buy a cheaper brand this time round. Omega, $399 delivered into my kitchen...............it has a cutlery drawer /tray as well, so far so good. If I get the warranty period of 3 years, I will be happy enough to then replace it.

We have a Fisher and Pykel dishdrawer, Joono andI would absolutely recommend it.  It has never let us down. We have the double one and use alternate drawers - unless we have visitors - but you can buy just a single drawer if you want.

The single drawer dishwasher is more suitable for 1 person, maybe 2. You can't fit a lot in them compared to a normal dishwasher.

In the past (quite a few years ago) we have had dishwashers where the rollers come off the bottom pullout tray... could  clip them back on but very annoying, especially when the tray was full.

It depends on what you personally like, I dont like the look of the drawer type dishwashers, so I didnt buy one. I think comes down to what you think will look best in YOUR kitchen. I have no idea how much water ours uses and dont really care as long as I dont have to wash up.

Excellent She_el.  I really wanted to hear from someone that had one.  I would need the double most times but using just one drawer would be handy at times too.

I like the drawer look and I think it would be easier to stack.  I love my deep drawer cupboards and find them much easier to use than the normal cupboards.

I will check them all out
