Any frog lovers out there????

Does anyone have pet frogs???? My son just found a 3 legged frog in our yard...not in great shape. Not really sure what to do with it? I called it Fred...as in drop dead fred...but of cause my munchkins are hoping thats not the case. We have it in an old fish tank but not really sure what else to do?

I was going to be factious and say miss piggy.

The fish tank sounds good. if you still have the gravel that was in it use that too arrange it at an angle and maybe a rock on the top end of the gravel also some foliage and a small pond at the bottom but just a small one enough to keep the humidity up. Put it in a shady spot.

make sure the frog has plenty of places to hide you can feed it a live worm or 2 but remember they don't eat much

Good luck

Love frogs, we used to have few  live around our pond.

don't see them now or hear them since we took the pond out.

i hope your frog survives.

We had a pet frog (also called Fred) in the house growing up. He had all his legs but was inadvertantly slammed in a door once so he couldn't hop any more, but managed to live for 17 years as Rockhampton's only walking frog.

He still managed to catch his own food (moths, roaches etc) but was also found occassionally snacking on leftovers from a dirty plate left on the sink. He spent his life in an old vase of Mum's with about 2 inches of water in the bottom and just used to come and go as he pleased - even used to leave the house for a few days in the rainy season, presumably out on the town to see if a walking frog could get lucky!

I'd imagine that if he survives whatever trauma he's been through, and he has a nice terrarium/fish tank type home, he might do well. Mightn't hurt to drop him in a dead moth or bug (not one that's been sprayed!), or a liitle minced meat.

Good luck,

Marina.
