Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

All I am thinking is we might be searching for the same things.

Punch......I wont say the surname until Chuk says it is OK.

But I have found where three brothers migrated from Germany.

Ernest....Henrich (Henry) and Julius arrived in 1856 aboard the "South Carolina"

Henry settled in NSW.....and the other 2 brothers in SA.

I would guess that this is the right family.

You ancestors were married in 1940 in the state you though.

Now to find the parents.....I have their initials now.

I read through every death notice on Trove with both spellings.

I've had visitors tonight, so havent really done much. I opened a window of Trove and its still sitting there un-looked at. Great work flashie.

Can you email me what you have discovered to save me going over the same ground.

It's been wonderful reading it all.

You have inspired me too, and I might spend the day with my lot.

I was hoping the new census would reveal my Henry Gibson, but still no sign of him 😞

However will spend some time today and see if I can (metaphorically) dig him up.. he has to have had parents somewere.

this is what punch has found so far

I gave 2 names to everyone.

I now have his parents names (GG grandparents)? and when they married

all their childrens names and the fact the surname was the wifes.

We knew of a rumor this had happened but didn't know if it was true or when it happened
