Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

I  just googled "probate genealogist" and there is lots of them, so I would check out the name etc of the one that has contacted you and see if they are a genuine business etc. The fact that this man was born in 1932 to me sounds plausible that he could be recently deceased etc and if he has died intestate and no known familoy hence the need for the probate genealogist. I wouldnt write it off yet, you may have a fortune waiting for you. Good luck

I'm still not convinced by it. I think anything like that would/should be more official.

In any case, I have already researched hubbies family quite extensively and if he's related to us, he is very, very distant. I have pretty much all of the family since their arrival in Australia in the mid 1800's.

I have another little project for you, but I wasn't sure it would be appropriate to do it here.

Punch, have you tired to google the email address to see if anything comes up? Also, if it ends in .org they probably have a website so type that into the address bar, everything after the @ symbol. So if it was punch@familytree.org change it to www.familytree.org

Good luck and keep us updated. Feel free to message me the emails and I will have a hunt around to see what I can come up with ๐Ÿ™‚

I've been trying to get some info on Elsie Lumb who I was told married James Rostron, and had four sons.

Her boys were named, Samuel. James. Frank and Stanley Rostron (Stanley was born in 1923) he was the youngest.

Its as though they never existed. Soooo frustrating at times.

I haven't joined any search groups,as I work long hours and only get one day off a week, to do house work and shop.

Hi Kaya, have you tried Googling the surname?  It's unusual enough you might get somewhere that way

Here's something to get you on your way...
