Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

I think people are taking information that I've found and adding it to their tree X-(:^O

Clair............that is why my tree is private................I paid 200 pound to get some professional research done and a few people copied it.....................and I was a tad annoyed ..............because they were not even a direct line.

But if someone contacts me in realtion to the ancestor I got the search done on I am happy to send it to them

I can just see where it comes up as new information for them and it's what I found but hey I shall leave mine public .. for now B-)

Clair, I can access some British Army service records (1760-1915) for free. Also medal cards, rolIs of honour, army deserters, prioners of war (WW1), the entire British army in 1861, Napoleonic war medals (early 1800's), Army births & deaths..

I am happy to have a look for any information for you.

Thanks so much punch! Yeah this was my grandads brother so 2nd world war 🙂

Seems he made his will in March 1942 and died July 1942

So exciting to find at least something from my mothers side, my auntie helped me out with a few details, seems I had the spelling wrong with a few names

Clair, I think spelling changes for names and not just surnames, is the biggest bug-bear in searching for ancestors. 😞

Yes that's happened to me a lot and there can be four spellings of the one persons name.

Clair, I'm jealous, I love Ballarat, I want to retire there when I'm older.

I dont think I need much info from there, but I'd like photos of the gravestones. I kinda have the desire to drive around and do that myself though. If I get stuck on anything in that area, I'll message you.
