Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Yes, I love them too for the same reasons as you flashie. Only recently started buying them but I do prefer 'Your Family History' mag as it's English with a decent amount of Aussie info.

Mon that sounds like an interesting program, good luck with that. The mags sound great as well. Like you flashie I love history as well. I'll have to keep a look out for them though I spend so much time on my passions now I feel a bit guilty indulging myself too much, but then hey we only live once.

Never waste guilt on passions matega, they are what keeps us going long after the kids leave home and we have retired from work ๐Ÿ™‚

Here's a new Genes Reunited site for you. I got it in an email this morning... I don't know how much use it will be as it couldn't find my great grandfather, despite having all his information. I tried it as a test run but you will probably have more luck than me.

:_| I'm a Smith!!

Its taken me ages to figure out that my grandfather had different names when he was born, when he married and when he died.

On the plus side, I have found family trees for the rest of my family already done.

Clever you discovering your grandfather had different names over his lifetime... do you know why?

Its not so much that his name was completely different, just used in different combinations.

What we always thought was his Christian name, was actually one of his middle names according to his birth certificate.

When I searched for his birth certificate, the records showed one of his middle names with an incorrect spelling, so I ordered a copy of the page and it is clear that BDM have got it wrong.

And despite the fact that his birth certificate says his name was Harold, he is listed in the census, marriage and death certificates with his middle name first. I know that people are often known by their middle names, but I just kinda thought the legal records would be more consistent.

I also discovered my husbands grandfather has a different name to what they always thought it was. Spent hours searching for him thinking it would be easy because neither the surname nor the Christian name he used were terribly common, only to find his divorce notice on Trove and his real name was Edward.

Flashie, if you have some time on you hands I would love you to check into the following for me

Martha Ann ANDREWS B 9.2.1836 Kings Lyn Norfolk
in 1881 they were living in Marylebone with their children
Alice Margaret, Florence C, Harry Edward & Llewellyn W.

Can you message me and give me a little idea of what you want me to search for.

Do you want me to look for Henry Thomas parents...or Martha Andrews parents....or what happend to their children.

Iam happy to look for anything...just point me in the right direction.
