Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Your organised Flashie, hopefully wont be needed for a long time. A friend of mine who lives in a small country town went to the local cemetry and found out which plots were available, then laid down in them to see what sort of a view he would get before making a decision. He found the one he liked and has reserved it.

They didn't write much on their gravestones, maybe because everyone in the town knew who was who?

I made the announcement today I want to be buried there and my daughter agreed. So that is settled.

I have to go BBL

What a wonderful experience primary, I'm so glad you were able to do that, and to find your roots would be such a thrill.

Flashie I can't see why you could not be buried with your ancestors, even if your kids think you are being funny. Do make sure you write it into your Will tho ๐Ÿ™‚

Just had a good laugh and the grandparents being buried as a distance from eachother because they weren't talking ... Can you imagine the amount of chat that would have gone on about where they should be buried "And make sure they can't see eachother either" :^O

Hahaha Matega...

then laid down in them to see what sort of a view he would get before making a decision.

I love it, do you think he will be able to see throug the soil? Or will it be his spiritual body that will sit on his tombstone and enjoy the view?

I know my father and one of his sisters have their ashes put into their mother's grave. I had to sign a paper to give permission for my aunt to be interred with my father and grandmother.

I rather like the idea that they are all together ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is a picture of the cemetery I was talking about.

If you look carefully you can see lots of the graves are pointing in different directions.

Some of this is because of famly fueds and some of it was because they wanted to be buried facing their properties.

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Hi everyone,

Anyone had any experience with accessing SA Supreme court records? The year I'm looking at is 1928, I found out my grandfather was a naughty boy and I want to find out the specifics of the case.

I went to the SA archives website and the talk about certain files being restricted and having to apply for the records. It was a bit confusing and being in Victoria I don't really have a chance of just popping into the archives and asking them.

No sorry......but if he was naughty boy it might have been reported in the newspaper....have you tried looking for the case on Trove.

oh yep forgot to mention that! Thats how I found out about it!

It mentions what the charge is and the sentence 1 month for grandpa and 10 months for his brother. I don't want to mention what the charge was publicly as its not fair to his living relatives to see it on a public forum.

It wasn't murder
