Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

woo hoo matega3..that is very exciting, isn't it!

now you will (hopefully) have a new line of research that will open up..fingers crossed

:-x

we had a little baby with a very unusual middle name that no-one ever new anything about (his name was Robert Trianon)..it wasnt until I came across a ship called, from memory, Grand Trianon that I had one of those moments..
had a look and yep, our baby was born on board & so that is where his very baffling middle name came from

fingers crossed my family history box may give me something fresh to go on, matega3..
sometimes it helps to go back to those 'stuck' bits & just see if you spot something that can get things moving..
especially with so many new sites coming online all the time

:-)

I think I need to try to get some information from the Baptist Church records..my bride & groom were married in the Manse of the Baptist Church , South Broken Hill..
I did try to write to them years ago but never received any response..
if only I can get someone to actually sight the marriage record & tell me whether the ages & parents names & places of birth are filled in..I have never understood why the bride & grooms ages , at least, are recorded..let alone the brides parents names unless it was a bit of a 'secret' marriage
:O

I've been busy making invites for my daughter's wedding so haven't had much time for searching. Hopefully I can get back into it now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Catt it might have been a 'shotgun' marriage and therefore not really talked about... try to find a baby about six months after the marriage... that might be available.

How wonderful finding Robert Trianon was born on board the Great Trianon... that is such a lucky find. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yayyyyyy ! Matega, way to go... isn't that just the best thing to happen?

I have been battling with rellies that don't want to be organised. Seems several of them married several times and then married again and now they are all mixed up like a ball of knitting the kitten has had a go at :_|

I'm slowly either working it out or deleting them until later.. phew!

That's a great site. Poor girls, it must have been an awful and frightening time for them.

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

hi flashie..I do have a question for you

:-p

have you ever had to research records from a Baptist Church?
re my ggf that you tried to help me with..
I would love to see if I could get someone to check whether the church record of the marriage actually has those missing pieces of information recorded

I am just not sure how to approach it..whether perhaps the church still exists & has the records..
or if they have been sent/stored to a govt or church archive.??

can you suggest my best approach?

Teh local archives usually are the place to go for old parish records.......but it is unlikely that what is there is any different to what you already have....my understanding is that is where the inofmation for the certificate came from......you were jsut unlucky that nothing other than their names are on it.

I have mentioned before the possitibilty of infomation on his death certificate.....do you have a copy of that.....or a dat he died?
