Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

sigh..I thought that

I have his death cert..it still has his birthplace as Longford, Tasmania (so he obviously told his family that all along)
and parents is 'unknown'
sigh..
it will take a miracle, I think, to get much more on him

Just a thought maybe just maybe he did military service the war memorial may have some information its a long shot but might work

thanks for your suggestion, jv..and for that church link, 2 chappies

no he didnt do military service..
funnily I have lots of certificates for his many children, and practically everything 'official' for him..it is just this problem of not being able to find his parents & so get back to the previous generation that has me stumped..

oh well..I guess I will just keep plodding along
;-)

thank you, all

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

yes, that is true..I have wondered whether he was an orphan
:-(
but then I just cant shake my confusion as to why my g/gm didnt name her parents on the marriage records either, as she was very close to her mother at least, so I dont know why she didnt record their names..

of course, there may be a whole story there that I have no idea about
lol

;-)

Not really, I have a marriage certificate with the names of the bride and groom and thier occupations only. Ages were very wrong and no information on thier parents. Oh and the marriage was in another state to thier usual residence.

Thankfully both the bride and groom had long and slightly unusual names.

I always thought the parents had to be on the certificates.........

I had trouble even reading the names of the parents on one certificate I have, the writing is dreadful, but managed to work it out with magnifying glass.

They are meant to be but what can the registrar do if the couple refuse to give the information? Or in some cases they might not know.

In my case they knew who thier parents were but it was a rather quick marriage IYKWIM.

I think I've found evidence of a family fued.

3 names on one side of the family VERSUS 3 names from the other

otherwise what could that mean?
