Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

That looks like a good link flashie, I've saved it.

Not much to add at present, just ploughing on with green leaves... how on earth did my family end up with so many recorded people?

It's crazy and there are times I just can't believe it.

I began ancestry about 2 years ago and began to doubt the authenticity so stopped looking. It took time for me to come back to it.

I'm hooked now but I still waver.

In the meantime my father's family has come to a grinding halt. Even searching all the links you have all included here has given nothing.. they just fade silently into the distance.

Well I do know it can take a long time for a hint to arrive, so I keep looking...

Darkie, do you think the cost justifies the info gained from Ancestry (or any other site)?

Interesting question 2chappies... I suppose it's a question of how interested you are.

If I was doing a lot of knitting over winter it could cost as much.

It's a hobby and an interesting one from my point of view, but if you can't raise much information then I suppose it might not be worth it.

In my case I have a lot of rellies who have interesting histories, so I spend hours reading about them as well as chasing the next generation and I have gained a huge amount of information and hours of enjoyment.

The information is out there if others are also looking for some of the same people you are. Even if it takes a couple of years for a green leaf to show, sooner or later it will.

You can join Ancestry for a year and then leave it for a couple of years, just checking it out and seeing what's going on, then you can join for a short time to add to your tree.

It all depends on how interested you are and if you are looking for a hobby ๐Ÿ™‚

I get my monies worth......every cent.....I do a lot of searches for other people....(not just on here)

I don't wait for the shaky leaves Darkie.

I serach through the data base...........eg

If I am looking for children of a particular couple I put in the surname up the top....and then the names of the parents under mother and father.....and search through the results.

You can do the same for other things too.

Trouble is flashie I don't have to wait for leave, they are sprouting like it was spring time...

Today I took a break and went looking for those who died in battles... That was interesting..

Battle of Flodden 1513
and attle of Haliden
and Battle of Stirling

so many of them including the Crusades and Acre in Israel...

Been so interesting.

...

There you go Gil, didn't I say they would be related somewhere along the line... fascinating isn't it. ๐Ÿ™‚
