Anyone have a Captiva?

Hi we bought our Captiva brand new Dec 2012.  We thought it was a great car and always been a Holden fan.  In one year we have had to leave it at the Holden car yard for a week with a big oil leak problem.  Car was 6 months old when the transmitransmission blew another week at Holden, so glad it was in warranty as its a 7 grand job.  Just got our 15,000 service and the front tyres are bold!!!! need replacing which i have a friend with exactly the same problem and these tyres arent cheap:-(  Plus we said there is like a metal clanking noise which they found a loose bolt they didnt do the transmission properly.  A friend had a 2006 captiva same problems with tyres now the belt chain thingy is going thats more than a couple of grand and another problem which was $1.500 problem the dealers told them how bad these craptivas are and they traded it for a ford.  Just hoping this captiva is not going to be having problems in the future.  Looking at some forums alot of people hate them:-(

Joz I'm sure there were but you just didn't  hear about them like you do now.

true

nissan is considered to be a good brand..my new patrol in 86 was flawed tho..they must have forgotten to check the oil level in the transmission on the production line, and, when i took the car to the dealers for service ..it developed a whining noise after the warranty ran out.

wasnt bad but i knew it was there.

I still think nissan in general is a good brand, just one of those things (possibly a monday car)...

...cant say that about daewoo though, theyve always produced cheap rubbish even under GM.

Signatures suck.

Re: Anyone have a Captiva?

AP 6 Valiant from Stillwell ford was a dud.

A VE Valiant sat outside Myer Bourke St. with a list of faults

until Chrysler had enough neg publicity.

My first Holden in 1969 was my last.

Never had a Ford on advice from unhappy owners.

Have owned 22 cars now -15 have been Toyotas and almost no probs.

Re: Anyone have a Captiva?

Lots of cars are made in Korea and many car parts for the major cars are unless you can afford higher end cars that's the reality. I think too many people have become paranoid about Daewoo, there are a lot of lemons of every badge and car brand.

Fact is major changes were made in the Korean factory to ensure Holden's quality control measures were put in place.  The earlier models when Holden first took over were problematic but changes were made to meet quality control.

As for the forums I am not sure they are the best measure but they are still worth a read.  If you are after a car that rarely breaks down ask your mechanic which cars he never/rarely sees!

All I can say is we were criticized for buying our epica, our Holden commodore. the Mitsubishi(2 of them lasted over 15 years with no real issues)  and the Chrysler.  None of them have really missed a beat except general wear and tare.

Re: Anyone have a Captiva?

Daewoos always were a heap of **bleep**. Especially the 4 cylinder ones. Every thing **bleep** it's self. Thanks for the **bleep** on Captivas as I was about to buy one. I was only just talking about who made them and we couldn't find out.
