What we'll need.
1. Land, maybe 1000 acres
2. A self proclaimed King or Queen
3. Lots and lots money for lawyers.
4. Our own currency.
5. A constitution.
Yes. It has already been done in Australia.

I am thinking about a Civil War to decide the ruling house. Hoping this will be a peaceful nation.

You do know that this will be considered a lifestyle choice and all funding will be cut off don't you? Say by byes to health care and pensions.

Simply put border stations on every road out of the area, require visas for anyone wanting to enter Australia, and have a 45-day waiting period for such visas......

Great topic UFO. I have thought about it alot actually. The self proclaimed King or Queen thing is probably the only thing that bothers me. To simplify my idea, I'd model my nation on more of a socialist ideology. Not in the redistribution of wealth way. More in the way where whoever lives in the nation would have to bring their existing skills and everyone works to their strengths and for the good of the nation and it's people.
Richo; Thank you so much for posting that link. I had no idea about Rainbow creek. Some very interesting local history ๐

Not a new idea, in 1893 William Lane took a group of settlers from Australia to Paraguay to form a new nation of "New Australia". He was a prominent Labour figure of the time. Needless to say it failed and most people returned home or went elsewhere, there are some 2000 descendants of those that remained still living in Paraguay.

UFO-he made a good attempt at doing the same as the Hutt River Provence.
Worked for a while-he ended up in Queenland making wooden boats
Have a book about it signed by him.
Great idea but a legal nightmare....................................................................Richo.

Not to mention a detention centre for those caught trying to sneak across the border into Australia.
