Well on the Federal level, since 1901 - 18 conservatives and 10 from the Labor Party resigned or were sacked for an assortment of corrupt behaviours, the worst period for the cons being the howard years.
but that's only the ones who were actually busted, reith wasn't on the list and sinodinos is "pending".

mmmm I think the "business types" are more likely to dabble in corruption because "business" offers them more opportunites for corruption.

Thomson, Williamson, Orkopoulis and Gillard are just a few corrupt who come to mind, I'm sure their are legion like the Keating piggery, the Richardson print factory really too many to list.
Modern Labor are criminally defunct in the decency and ethical department and it's on show every day.
The ICAC is currently investigating who??? LABOR and the filth they wallowed in in NSW, the lies and corruption puts anything else in the shade.
So Labor is proven to be open to corruption and nefarious deals, they do it every day, just look at the CFMEU and many other criminal organisations lockstep with Labor.
Also Poddsters answer was correct in that the lower educated non ambitious and non particpants in the work force are more likely to be Labor supporters, Labor is their meal ticket, Labor is the handout mentality that sees generations of families who have never worked continue to vote Labor.

Party politicians are. Both sides are merely in it for their own gain, not the welfare and benefit of the country's people as a whole.
Since the Commonwealth of Australia became the Corporation of Australia, it's been that way, regardless of who is calling the shots.

I think that when your value system is based on money, wealth and a sense of entitlement then you are less likely to appreciate what constitutes wrong from right.
So I am going to say that those with Liberal leanings are more likely to be enticed into corruption.
And the biggest difference is that if you left leaning then you probably understand that what you are doing is wrongl. But if you are right leaning then generally your ethics radar is set very low and you may not even care about the potential consequences of your actions.
And in fact there have been quite a few published studies on the subject. In particular the idea that the wealthier you are the more value you place on self importance and the concept of deserving 'more'.

Here is an article summarising a Berkley study: http://www.psypost.org/2012/02/upper-class-more-likely-to-be-scofflaws-due-to-greed-10230
Here is an exerpt:
The upper class has a higher propensity for unethical behavior, being more likely to believe – as did Gordon Gekko in the movie “Wall Street” – that “greed is good,” according to a new study from the University of California, Berkeley.
In seven separate studies conducted on the UC Berkeley campus, in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide, UC Berkeley researchers consistently found that upper-class participants were more likely to lie and cheat when gambling or negotiating; cut people off when driving, and endorse unethical behavior in the workplace.
“The increased unethical tendencies of upper-class individuals are driven, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed,” said Paul Piff, a doctoral student in psychology at UC Berkeley and lead author of the paper published today (Monday, Feb. 27) in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Predictably rife with false accusations, absolutely no fact what so ever. Still, if the unemployed vote Labor always, at the rate the Prime Minister for Unemployment is over seeing job losses, the LNP don't stand a chance at the next election.
It was the Howard government that went after the CFMEU via the construction industry royal commission, and insisted on a secondroyal commission into the Australian National Audit Office’s Centenary House lease in order to attack Labor.
As it turned out, both were damp squibs. The Cole Royal Commission into the Building and Construction Industry — an industry we all assume is rife with racketeering and organised crime — produced no prosecutions of unionists, building companies or property developers, and found no evidence of organised crime in the industry — a poor return for over $70 million of taxpayers’ money. Nonetheless, the Howard government insisted the outcome justified the extraordinary, Stasi-like powers of the Australian Building and Construction Commission. This time around, the Abbott government hasn’t bothered with having the royal commission first — it introduced the restoration of the ABCC, complete with its powers of secret interrogation and overriding the right to silence, the moment it was elected.
“As long as the royal commissions generate a stream of negative stories about your opponents, it’s not quite so bad if no matters get referred for prosecution …”

Karen if you think that Malcolm Frazer was an ethical man. You are not aware of his involvement in the Court Marshals of two Army Majors in the late 70's. I am as I sat through them.
