In my view there is a vast difference between passionate debate (heated discussion) and interpersonal dispute.
I agree that interpersonal anything should be given the chop but discussions that adhere to the rules of debate and address the issue are NOT interpersonal in their nature
Without debate society would still be in the cave.
Moderators may I make a suggestion? ............Thank you.
Do not be too hasty in your judgement as to what constitutes an "Interpersonal Dispute".
In a lot of cases interpersonal disputes are veiled so as to appear innocent the do not get the proper treatment that they so richly deserve. I realise that Lithum moderators are only noobies to this site and are not aware of the forum dynamics as yet, let us hope that the learning curve gets accelerated as time passes.

I think it's more a case of not knowing what the guidelines are any more.
I think the board usage policy needs updating. For instance this one... The use of false registration information or creating multiple accounts for use on eBay's boards to avoid detection or which results in disruption on the boards
I have it (not quite from the horses mouth) that this rule does not apply any more and you can use as many IDs on the boards as you like and you can also use multiple IDs to report other members.
Personally, I would never be such a coward.

It's the interpersonal thing that's difficult, maybe if a poster "goes on a holiday", the mods should look at the posts leading up to the "holiday" post and even if the 1st holidayee hasn't complained the mods should send the poster who has complained on a holiday as well, only if that poster has made interpersonal comments of course.
Does that make any sense to anyone - or is it a bit -Peter Piper Picked a Pepper

"We believe that an honest, open environment can bring out the best in people." This is not true. This discussion board only allows a sanitised environment to exist.

Do you really want no moderating, i don't - think it would quickly become nasty, racist and truly horrid.

the moderating needs to be realistic and allow for different view points and allow adults to discuss as adults, not to be shut down when the topic is deemed sensitive by big brother.

donna, that's brilliant - i was reading about Dr Seuss the other day - didn't know he was an anti fascist cartoonist back in the day.
