There is no way I will be. I am not planning to work beyond 55!
But it won't affect people like me will it? I have my own plans and they will be self funded.
So once again, it will be those less fortunate and less able to take care of themselves who will suffer.

yes Karen, my hubby has already had a heart attack in his mid 50's as you know. He left his high income job due to the stress it was causing him. Hes strugglng with getting up and going to work already. I don't want want him to have to work till he's 70.
I also want him to stay alive

😞 and it'd be nice if he could enjoy his retirement years in good health.
But you are happy to work until 67 because Labor raised the age limit in 2009..... Starts in 2017...... 3 years from now....... Thats OK though isnt it.....

People may be living longer due to lifestyle, diet and medicine but the body still wears out. My mum retired at 60 and was physically and mentally worn out. She worked hard since she was 15 years old, raised four children - buried one - raised a grandchild and survived a brutal domestic violence attack. She spent her remaining years experiencing things that she had not been able to do previously such as travel - both here and overseas. If she had have retired at 70, if she was still alive, she'd only have two years of retirement left since she died at the age of 72.
My Dad became a house husband due to his mental health. He had a really rough upbringing but eventually he started up his own successful photographic business. He died at the age of 73.
