There is no way I will be. I am not planning to work beyond 55!
But it won't affect people like me will it? I have my own plans and they will be self funded.
So once again, it will be those less fortunate and less able to take care of themselves who will suffer.

Clive Palmer doesn't support it "There's a strong argument to say that women that stay at home, women that have poorer jobs should be paid more, not less."

Nah, it's not a good thing, I get that, especially for those in hard labour kinds of jobs, but hopefully as time passes and society changes those kinds of jobs will largely phase out and people will drift towards more long term sustainable employment.
How do you 'phase out' what a brickie does? Or a plumber? Or a hairdresser? Or a farmhand? Or a restaurant dishwasher? Or a nanny? Or a taxi driver? Or a labourer? Or a boilermaker?
don't worry, we can all live in tents and walk everywhere, eat air so we won't need crockery.
apparently the pension doesn't afford much more than that.
The majority of workers don't hit the workforce at 15 or 18 now, it's more like 24 before they start their journey of wealth accumulation, Add to that the predicted change of careers of up to 6 times in a life time, so downtime and training inbetween up times, and people now have less time to build their wealth on which to retire.
30 odd years ago, it was ok to leave school at 15 to start work, My mother at 13 and my father went to grade 6 before he left school.
Society is changing and eviolving.
It's not we are working longer at all. It's just that we are starting later in life.

My stepson cant find full time work so has to work part time, every full time job he appies for so do hundred others, the young have no hope these days as there are not enough jobs out there, especially when alot of jobs these days are sent off shore.
So, you have the young ones, and now they want the older ones to work till 70yrs, where are they going to employ them with no jobs to be had.
My sister in law is too old at 63yrs, yet they want people to work until they are 70...........
Where are they planning on getting jobs for everyone?

i don't think Abbotts PPL scheme will get up. many in his own ranks dont want it , let alone the IPA and the electorate.

well imagine if he HAD to work till seventy
people get tired you know
Yeah, as I said there are exceptions, there will always be exceptions.
He's semi retired now, and looking to use the skills he has in a different manner.
No different to what I'm doing really, originally a chef, no way I could go back to that now or do it until I was 60. so change tack is in order.

NMot meaning to be argumaentative here, but this is something I have never understood.
Why, should someone who has managed to get themselves into a position to earn more be punished for that?
I think everyone should be taxed equally.
It's sort of like the welfare mantra you hear "it's not wiorth me working right now, cos i get more money to stay home", "if I go and work part time, they take money off my payments, so what's the point?"
