Army says don’t tell people smugglers our secrets. Greens and Labor say we must
Looks like the Greens and Labor are the smugglers best friends..... We know that already that they are and they support the smugglers and an open border policy and do NOT support Australia at all.
Three boats in one week is the most for many weeks now:
The federal government has finally confirmed that an asylum-seeker boat reached Darwin on Monday and was one of three to arrive in Australian waters in the past week…
The three boats carried a total of 163 passengers and eight crew.
In an escalation of her attack on the Coalition for its “secret” military-led border protection regime, Greens immigration spokesman Sarah Hanson-Young put a motion to the Senate ordering the government to release any documents relating to the interception and turning back of asylum-seeker vessels.
The motion was backed by Labor, passing the Senate this morning 31 votes to 28.
General Campbell said he wouldn’t disclose anything which would give people smugglers an advantage or could be used by them to manipulate or confuse their potential customers.
“They use official announcements of vessel interceptions to persuade people that the way to Australian remains open. It does not,” he said.
General Campbell said information about arrivals led to release of final payments to the smugglers, but delays would complicate their operations in an increasingly tight market.
“We know that passengers have been told on occasion by people smugglers not to be concerned by the poor state of their vessel, by the inexperience of their crew by the lack of provisions on board because their voyage will be short and they will very quickly marry up with an Australian vessel,” he said.
“People smugglers are using these announcements to claim victory.”
So on whose side are the Greens, Labor and clamoring journalists? On the people smugglers’ or on those trying to stop them?
The former chief of the Australian Defence Force - a Labor favorite - backs the Government’s restrictions:

ADAM SPENCER:
Excellent. Thank you very much. Can I ask you a question on a separate matter if that’s alright. You led the expert panel on asylum seekers and we’re now seeing an increasing role for the military and border protection. We’re also not getting a lot of information from the Government or the military about what’s being involved in Operation Sovereign Borders. Do you personally have an opinion on whether this level of secrecy is warranted?
ANGUS HOUSTON:
Well I think one of the problems that you face when you’re conducting an operation like this is the need to guard information and I guess the military way of doing things is to operate with a high degree of operational security, to keep the people smugglers on the back foot and I think that’s really why there’s a need for operational security and that’s why things are the way they are at the moment.

Morrison to defy Senate motion
Nov 15, 8:35 pm
IMMIGRATION Minister Scott Morrison says he will continue to release limited information to the press about asylum seeker boat arrivals ahead of the parliament in defiance of a Senate order.
Mr Morrison also confirmed for the first time on Friday an asylum seeker boat reached Darwin this week, one of three to arrive in Australian waters in the past seven days.
The Senate this week passed a motion compelling the minister to table all communications about "on-water operations" since the election, as well as email and correspondence between the minister, his office and the Department of Immigration and Customs.
At his weekly Operation Sovereign Borders media briefing in Sydney on Friday Mr Morrison told reporters he "noted" the Senate resolution.
When asked if it was likely he would continue to give the briefings to the press ahead of the parliament, Mr Morrison said he would honour the protocol.
The Senate order impacted on information that was available to him "and our response to that will be made in due course".
Mr Morrison added that the previous government refused to comply with 75 such orders to produce documents.
The motion also requires the minister to table documents about future incidents within 24 hours of the events.
Attacks on the border protection policy increased following confirmation this week a 31-year-old asylum seeker was separated from her newborn child in Brisbane.
Mr Morrison said a review into the matter was underway, while Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he deeply regretted the incident.
The vessel that arrived in Darwin was one of three boats carrying a total of 163 asylum seekers that entered Australian waters this week.
Operation Sovereign Borders commanding officer Lieutenant General Angus Campbell defended the policy's call for weekly briefings and limited discussion regarding boat interceptions.
It was designed to protect the integrity of the operations, which he is overseeing.
"I do not believe in secrecy for secrecy's sake," he told reporters in Sydney.
Lt Gen Campbell said he wouldn't disclose anything that would give people smugglers an advantage or could be used by them to manipulate their potential customers.
He said information about arrivals led to release of final payments to the smugglers, but delays would complicate their operations in an increasingly tight market.
In future Lt Gen Campbell will make his report, take a few questions and then withdraw to leave Mr Morrison to take questions.
Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said on Friday the briefings were farcical and she dismissed Lt Gen Campbell's reasoning.
"The idea of operation secret boats is simply to make the boats look like they've disappeared - it's got nothing to do with stopping them," she said.
Opposition immigration spokesman Richard Marles said the change to the briefings was an admission Mr Morrison had been wrong.
"The fact we've had to wait until today to have it confirmed from our own government that a boat did arrive in Darwin shows enormous contempt for the people of Darwin," he said.

For 6 years the border security has been in chaos encouraged by the Labor/Green alliance.
Border security has been non existent for that period of time, prior to that it was controlled but Krudd dismantled that.
Agree Poddy and have you noticed that the only people crying and yelling and making all the noise are the bitter hate filled left as they toss a tantrum to the massive hiding they got at the election.
The normal people in Australia and thats the majority that voted for the LNP dont care and support the LNP and vooted for this.
Anything the hate filled left say is just noise from the bitter few and they are irrelevant in the big scheme of things
