Last night I found evidence of an interloper in my kitchen cupboard, the one under the sink.
Today I was making scones. I reached in to a cupboard to get a cooling rack and the BIGGEST FATTEST RAT leapt out at me.
I was tapdancing around the kitchen, teatowel flapping, flour going everywhere and making a noise somewhere between a yodel and a scream.
The cat opened one eye, looked at me and then resumed her sleeping position in the kitchen doorway. Mr Clown yells out from the living room "did you step on the cat?
I tell him about the rottweiler sized rat from hell that tried to rip out my jugular and his still loose in the kitchen somehwere. His response " are the scones ready"
I going shopping tomorrow. Rat trap is at the top of the shopping list.

Yes, they are ready. He is happily munching away. The cat managed to rouse itself from slumber long enough to beg for cream and has gone back to sleep. I don't think I'll ever sleep again knowing that varmint is in the kitchen.
I think it must be Mr Clowns turn to cook dinner tonight.

Oh Merry Christmas.
We had a plague of those brutes earlier in the year.
Purchased those cute little stainless cages - with a hook to set - and hang - the goody - to tempt.
Bait - if they 'pass' in the walls or whatever they - plainly - smell.
These here little food sources were a boon - the captured were mercifully sent to the next life.
The little food sources reset - & voila - no problem for months.
Want a pic of the food source - give a yell.

Nothing, absolutely nothing would get cooked in that kitchen until
it was dead and gone, and I had thrown out all the food and cleaned
thoroughly!!!!!
Scones ready, indeed! Hmmph

A pet rat? -vs- a varmint unwelcome common 'house' rat?.....not the same thing. Had both. Qualified opinion.
Make beautiful pets....the black hooded variety
Shudder at the thought of an unwelcome house rat. EEEEeeeeuuuuuuw!
