Only asking here because it appears to be the only board that gets used at all, and I would like more than one answer in a week.
When you are looking for something you may want, how do you search?
Free post.
Ending soonest.
best match
Other?

@jawsnine wrote:No problem Freshwaterbeach. What I was trying to get at, but probably not too successfully, was that Ebay are pushing Free Postage onto sellers as they say that that is what the buyers want and maybe they do (yourself included). Realistically though there is no such thing, the postage cost is just absorbed into the item price and Ebay gets to keep between 7 and 9% of the postage cost as fees as well. As a buyer who is also a seller I wont buy into that so I don't search that way. (I do sell that way in some categories though so that I stay competitive).
I'm sure the Op is trying to work out how best to list their items so everyone's opinion is useful - I must say I'm also suprised by how few people use best match considering we are led to believe that that is also what buyer's want.
Jaws you are quite right that is exactly what I am doing and wanting to know. seemed the best place to ask because most on this board buy stuff.
It is actually the free post that gets me the most and wondered how many people search for that, surely everyone must realize it is not free and only gets ebay more commission.
The thing I found odd is I would put some at free post and some at postage charged, the ones with free post were a couple of dollars cheaper but for the same item people prefer to pay postage.
Time soonest ended is an interesting one too, that kind of means that if people are not doing best match your items are only on show for maybe a day a month when they get to the top.
Many sellers swear by best match I never have so this is very interesting to me.

Hi ya Margo
If I have the time I like to 'window shop' as it's the only way I can do this and not get tired
But if I know what I want then, yes, I go for free postage where possible.
Sometimes I choose soonest, sometimes I don't care... so I don't think I'm much help to you.
