Aussie sense of humour compared to US

I post regularly on a predominately US populated forum, and I found that I seem to stick my foot in it when it comes to humour.  For example I posted about the "suppository" gaffe.  I found it funny because of the mistaken use of the word, I could see myself doing the same and lastly because of who said it.

Well, I was told its not funny at all, shouldn't make fun of someone because of what they say etc.

SO my question is, do you think Americans have a different sense of humour?

No...I don't think so.  I remember watching US shows making fun of G W Bush's gaffes.   Do you ever watch Ellen?

I think maybe it depends on who you speak to.

They definitely do, I lived and worked there and was forever offending people. Some of our commonly used words have an entirely different meaning to them.

They lampooned Sarah Palin mercilessly.

They have subtitles on a lot of British comedy shows, they aren't exactly quick witted.

I'm sure a lot of people would have seen Tina Fey as Sarah Palin

I can see Russia from my house

Its become so popular that people are actually attributing that to Palin.

most US inhabitants dont have a sense of humour, especially subtle humour, slapstick is about their limit.

And any thing to do with patriotism or freedom is a no no, they regard themselves the bravest, freest, most just country in the world.

Gods gift to humanity that's why they carry guns and have 6-8 locks on their doors 🙂

I was thinking of posting a link to Clive Palmers twerking on the other forum, but that probably would of earned me a slap or two.  Because I would of been teasing obese people (wouldn't make a difference that I'm obese too)
