Australia a Sanctuary for African Rhinos.

At last someone is doing something to prevent the Rhino from becomming extinct through ferocious poaching in Africa and the supersticious use of Rhino horn in Asia. Offering up to $500,000.- per horn, poor Africans risk their lifes to get some of that money.

The decimation of Rhinos and Elephants is unbelieveable.

Six is a good start.  Hope they can breed them.

Thanks Erica.

Small steps .......   but hopeful.   Pity the butchering in Africa can't be stopped.  but it seems out of control.

The biggest problem is syndicated poaching. The poor, uneducated poachers don't even get the bulk of the money. Criminal gangs have the connections to sell their loot. The same goes for Elephant ivory, even so the export of those items is forbidden in some parts of Africa.

I blame the Asians for believing in the healing power of animal horns. It's 2016 and the world has advanced so much. Asian people are very savvy with new electronic gadgets and information, yet they still use those old barbaric methods for what they call medicine and aphrodisiacs. They don't seem to care what happens to the rest of the world.

If the demand was not there, the killing of those animals would stop.

How does one convince people that what they are doing is wrong and detrimental to the future of our Earth?

I so wish I knew Erica.       While there is such a huge market for these things the criminals will always find a way.  Smiley Mad

This is good news for the rhino.

Remember the population of the American bison went from an estimated 30 million down to 100 in the wild by 1880....because they were hunted for their meat  to almost extinction by the white man.

They were saved, but are still hunted....not for meat but for sport.....sick.
