Tensions between the US and China have lately been focused around Beijing’s response to the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan and Washington’s accusation of a cover-up regarding its severity and possible origin. Some of the US’ global allies, like Australia, have been following its lead, provoking Chinese displeasure.
The Global Times, a popular Chinese tabloid generally considered to be reflective of the government’s position, ran with some pretty insulting words about Australia over its siding with the US’ position. The nation is a “giant kangaroo that serves as a dog of the US,” the paper cited an anonymous Chinese netizen as saying.

Here is the pandemic timeline
The WHO declared global emergency on 30 th January.
Why do people think that "early misleading advice" would protect China? How? The last thing the Chinese would have wanted would be damage to their trading partners. Their whole economy is set up to sell to the world. If the COVID19 did not infect the whole world, Chinese economy would be picking up.
The Chinese were dealing with epidemic and were asking for help. Australian labs had the COVID19 DNA early in January and were looking for medications that could be effective, as well as starting to develop vaccine. Both the Chinese and WHO were saying there is a dangerous virus spreading and we do not know how bad it is. The 1st recorded death in China was 10th January, and the Chinese closed whole cities (23rd January) and building new hospitals in unimaginable short time; how were they downplaying anything? Just because some Australian media might not have reported as much as they could have, does not mean it was not out there.
OK, back in December some doctors started to suspect that this strange new pneumonia is being spread by people, but at the beginning they had 39 (?) people all connected to the Wuhan market, which could have mean that they could have be infected directly by animal. Only when they somebody who had nothing to do with the market they started to consider the possibility of person to person infection.
And yes, China is getting foothold all over the world, just as the USA and USSR (and now Russia) are and always were doing. That has nothing to do with COVID 19. .

Mans greed for land and riches will be the down fall of the earth.
There is enough food in this world to feed all but it is all about money.
Maybe if mankind lasts another couple of hundred years mankind might develope empathy for his fellow man
It will not be in my life time

This is what WHO told the world on behalf of China.
Based on a comparison of crude attack rates across provinces, the Joint Mission estimates that this truly all-of-Government and all-of-society approach that has been taken in China has averted or at least delayed hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 cases in the country.
By extension, the reduction that has been achieved in the force of COVID-19 infection in China has also played a significant role in protecting the global community and creating a stronger firstline of defense against international spread.
Containing this outbreak, however, has come at great cost and sacrifice by China and its people, in both human and materialterms.
Parts of the world believed they had contained it and they hadn't even come close because they allowed five
million people to travel overseas without mentioning the critcal monitoring of the temperature of entry and exit
passengers which a number of countries didn't implement as they didn't know whereas China did and that
information wasn't released by WHO until the 24th of February when it was way to late.

This is interesting; including headlines from US papers in January reacting to China's lockdown

I have no idea where this 5 million people leaving China comes from. Also WHO declared global public health emergency 31st January.
The USA banned Chinese and any foreigners who visited China from entering America on 31st January. But they let American citizens back without any precautions. Are you suggesting that China should have prevented foreigners to leave China? Not that is matters because it is now obvious that there were cases in US long time before that. IIn any case Trump continued to refuse accept reality right into March
Australia imposed travel restrictions on 1st February:

Considering that in China people were stopped and their temperature measured at every corner, and in those regions that were not totally locked down, every bus stop, train station and airport most certainly did check temperature, and for any signs of cold like symptoms. That is according to people who traveled from China. Everybody also had to have mask at all times in public. Once they got home it was up to their country to deal with them.
Now we know that measuring temperature is not very efficient, as asymptomatic people are the main source of infection, but back in January and February that was not known.
Also now it is finally confirmed that masks play big role in controlling the spread. Tests in animals showed that if the infected wear masks the infection is reduced by something like 70%, if the not infected wear mask the infection is reduced by about 13%, if both wear masks the infection was reduced by close to 90%. Yet, we were discouraged from wearing masks. And even now not many people are wearing masks.

I think 6 weeks to late - they knew was an extreme crisis early January , global technocrats ( WHO , UN, CDC - all other countries high level health related authories) sat on their hands and reacted to late , one country after another . Even now so late in the UK they have just introduced mandatary 14 day isolation for arrivals
Almost happened here with some close calls like the obvious cruise ship incubators - but we were fortunate
