A Chinese tabloid widely considered to be a mouthpiece of the ruling communist party has printed some harsh words about Australia over the country’s support of the US attack on Beijing’s Covid-19 response.

Tensions between the US and China have lately been focused around Beijing’s response to the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan and Washington’s accusation of a cover-up regarding its severity and possible origin. Some of the US’ global allies, like Australia, have been following its lead, provoking Chinese displeasure.

The Global Times, a popular Chinese tabloid generally considered to be reflective of the government’s position, ran with some pretty insulting words about Australia over its siding with the US’ position. The nation is a “giant kangaroo that serves as a dog of the US,” the paper cited an anonymous Chinese netizen as saying.

Shows how they don't have a clue how euphemisms work and a kangaroo serving as a dog just doesn't make any

sense except to them.

The citizens will say what their "government" wants them to say so in reality it's their "Party" that wants it said.

It's far better to go with the US than cowtow to a nation that wants to rule the world under their communistic state.

I don't like the way China is trying to blackmail Australia to back down on any investigations.

In my opinion they just want us to be a giant kangaroo hopping when they say jump.

China got its hackles up because Trump, who ignored all the warnings, called the pandemic "democrat's hoax", and then when it became obvious America is going to be severely impacted, started to blame China and WHO.  China was cooperating with scientists around the world, giving out the DNA samples and all their knowledge, in hope that cure and vaccines will be developed.  China is perfectly happy to work with people who want to investigate origin of COVID19 and cooperate in finding solutions; they bristle at suggestion of Trump to investigate China for negligence and cover up. 

I remember back in early January when China was building 2 hospitals with plan to be operational withing few weeks, and then started to close down Wuhan, when people all over the social media were scoffing at them for "over reacting".  All sorts of memes  saying "flu kills X people yearly and nobody closes down their country" were floating around. Trump will do anything to deflect the fact  that America is in unbeatable 1st place in both number of infections and death from COVID19.  Even the very poor countries in Africa are doing better in handling the situation.  And those who are not doing that well, it is mainly due to the poverty in the shanty towns, not the authorities actions in handling the situation. 

We should be concentrating on development of medications and vaccines, on giving support to people impacted by the restrictions.  NOT attacking each other.  China is very powerful country, like it or not we cannot live the way we are used to without China.

China comes across to me as a bully and the US a thug. I don't believe or trust either. There seems to be enough evidence to suggest the WHO did play down the virus when some countries were shutting down their borders. It is a worry if the WHO did provide the early misleading advice to protect China.

Australia is a close ally of the US and does tend to support them on most issues. But Australia's call for an independent investigation has been backed by over 120 other countries. That suggests the investigation is justified. China's subsequent threats towards Australia is typical of a bully and I hope Australia does not buckle under the pressure. Most bullies are aggressive because they want to exercise control and protect themselves from being found out.

I really dont think any one knew how bad the Virus was to start, Aussie and NZ are lucky because we hit it staight away, America Stuffed around concentrating on the blame game instead of getting off their bottoms and doing some thing about it

Then you have that snake oil Trump who is tying to use the virus to get him self voted back in and sell pills that his family trust have shares in the company that makes the pill

The problem is that China is going to make more footholds especially in the "poorer" countries due to this

destruction of the world economy in most of those countries they will be "offered" help from China.

Whenever that happens China has terms that they must abide by and one of them is to praise China and

denounce Taiwan as not being a separate nation but belonging to China.

It has not affected China like it has other countries due to their total control of the people and the "containment"

of the virus to a much smaller part of their country than others.

Which is where the question comes in was it deliberately released as it could/will benefit China in a big way.

Africa will become the new manufacturing hub of low priced items sold via China as the production costs in

China have started to rise to quickly and it has started to push some prices up to a level that's no longer

competitive to other countries.
