Australia's infamous internet troll Tristan Barker gets uncomfortable with Triple M Grill Show interview
INFAMOUS internet troll and cyber bully Tristan Barker was expecting a cushy ride on breakfast radio this morning.
But the heat got too much when he was questioned about his new found fame as Australia's most prolific internet troll.
Austereo's Triple M The Grill show invited Mr Barker on air to find out "if he is an internet troll, is he that bad or just a naughty boy".
Mr Barker, 18, confirmed he had been "a very, very naughty boy" but appeared uncomfortable with the suggestion that him spending hundreds of hours on the internet abusing everyone from celebrities to murder victims was a poor life choice.
One of the show's hosts asked Mr Barker why, with a "life in front of you", he would become a "troll of the highest order" and "pry upon those weaker than you".
But the interview lasted less than two minutes when Mr Barker objected to that claim, suggesting musicians like Nicki Minaj were not vulnerable.
"The only person weaker than me that I think I'm taking advantage of is you stupid breakfast jocks for giving me publicity," he said.
The interview then ended with one host questioning why he had made it on as an interviewee.

Melbourne police are reportedly investigating the son of an Australian musician who has been named Australia's most prolific internet troll.
Tristan Barker, 18, was allegedly behind an online "stalking" campaign in which he encouraged some of his 300,000 Facebook fans to send threatening messages to the owner of a hair extension company, Melissa Meitz, News Limited reported.
It's claimed Ms Meitz was targeted while she was running an online competition.
"The offence is stalking, under new legislation that came in a couple of years ago โฆ it is a continuing investigation," Detective Senior Constable Rodney Andrew told News Limited.

If he has mainly children following him...that is a worry. They are vulnerable and impressionable.
their parents should be monitoring what they see and do on the internet.

Internet Trolls can be Prosecuted Under Australian Law
The perceived anonymity of the internet makes some users behave in a manner they normally wouldnโt in person, which may be a mistake because an individualโs online actions may have real world consequences. Australiaโs first conviction of an internet โtrollโ who defaced a social network tribute site should be a warning that there are laws that exist to counter bad online behaviour.
The Commonwealth Criminal Code Act (the Criminal Code) Part 10.6 can be used to prosecute individuals who are โtrollsโ.
What is an internet โtrollโ?
Internet trolls arenโt loveable creatures with crazy bright coloured hair but rather are individuals who engage in online behaviour that is provocative and offensive, with the ultimate goal of garnering some sort of online attention. Arguably, the most common example of trolling behaviour is posting offensive comments in response to a post or article. However, the explosion of the popularity of social networking sites has seen an increase in trolling behaviour โ leading to the imprisonment of the first Australian for being a โtrollโ.
What are the laws that regulate โtrollsโ?
The Criminal Code Part 10.6 regulates internet services and some of the areas that the Part encompasses are child abuse material, child pornography, as well as using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause an offence to the reasonable person as stated in Part 10.6, Division 474.17(1).
There are laws at state level that also be used to prohibit offensive online behaviour, such as QueenslandโsCriminal Code, as well as the Crimes Act in both New South Wales and Victoria.
Are there any options to stop โtrollsโ in Australia?
Depending on what type of trolling behaviour was undertaken, there can be a few options available. If an individual believes that they have been defamed, seek legal advice. However, if the trolling behaviour has included content that would normally be refused classification, or classified as X 18+ or R 18+ a complaint can be made to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) who can investigate complaints relating to prohibited material.

Classic:-D
Absolutely true.
Remember Cory the party kid. Same deal. Why complain if you give them the attention?
on โ05-03-2013 07:33 PM
I thought he said that in response to a question rather than a complaint Bob ?
This was the question ..
One of the show's hosts asked Mr Barker why, with a "life in front of you", he would become a "troll of the highest order" and "pry upon those weaker than you".
I wouldn't mind hearing a proper answer

you're accusing someone of being a troll yet you're giving them the attention.
on โ05-03-2013 08:19 PM
looks like the Police are giving him attention ... do you think that's wrong of them Bob ?
