The growing gap between heavily funded schools in good socio economic areas compared to poorly funded schools has been appalling the last decade. And now it appears that gap is getting wider.
It makes absoluelty no sense at all NOT to take on the reforms set out by Gonski. What is going to happen to these kids being left behind? On a global scale, our education standards are already embarressingly low.
It's not that easy to explain. Good parents most likely had a good education. They read to their kids, they make sure they get to school each day and they take interest in their childs learning. It starts at home.
