I don't feel comfortable with the 2014 Australian of the Year, Mr. Goode. I just can't help feeling that if he could not handle the rudeness and bad manners of a 13 year old girl without crucifying her on most forms of social media to make a political point of his own, however justified is concerning. I wonder how he will handle interjections and comments he finds offensive during his term of office.

because......................................unlike some here I have reached a level of knowledge and enlightenment that is beyond the reach of most denizens of this jungle called CS some of whom do not even have the aspiration to rise above their present level of ignorance.
they say that ignorance is blissful 🙂

It seems that a discussion on this subject gets very emotional, very quickly. It is hard to have a calm discussion without being labeled with names. My own immediate family is multi racial and multi cultural and yet we can have wide ranging discussions without it getting heated. It seems hard to do that here, perhaps because it is an open forum. I guess that at the end of the day, every persons opinion has equal weight.
I imagine (and would hope) he handles it the same way he handled the other incident - with intelligence and dignity.
He didn't make a big song and dance about what happened. The media did. He simply made an (understandably) emotional statement after the event about how it made him feel.

no he carried on like a fool and then back peddled.
he actually said in an interview just after the event that he was unsure if he would play the next week because his widdle feelings were hurt

he pointed the child out to security to be removed.

I think It's harder when he is judged differently by what he says and does and his concerns are deemed not valid. The media made a meal out of the incident you mention in the OP .Neither he nor the security knew how old that girl was ... if the child, her parents and other Australians don't know by now what is and isn't appropriate public behaviour and language ...I'd hope that they are learning from that ....perhaps not so much imo if and when Australians publicly promote rather than denounce the 'get over it' message which enables imo.
If he is to be judged by that ......... we've got a long long way to go .
It's the same imo as a women speaking out about sexism .... some are quite happy to keep the old way alive and attack a women for doing so.
and yet what they show is Strength and Courage imo
Congratulations to Adam Goode , Australian of the year 2014
