okay. But what makes you
1. believe that someone diagnosed with Aspergers is 'suffering'?
and
2. feel and WHY do you feel 'embarrassed' for someone with Aspergers?
I am confused by your initial comment.......

My brother has good manners as far as please and thank you go.
Sometimes when I take him say morning tea, he will say nothing. Then when I am halfway down the hall he says thanks.
If he is doing something he must finish that before he concentrates on something else.
Sometimes he can be blardy rude also.
This afternoon I was moving dirt and tan bark. he was in his room watching me. I asked him to come help, so he got up and hurriedly shut his window and closed his blinds. Then he sat down and I assume put his TV on.
So I told him he was a rude lazy pratt.

Channy, your brother sounds like a character. Does he live with you? It's nice he has his sister's support - not many siblings would care like that.

Paints, don't misunderstand me. I am related to people with Aspergers and some of them struggle socially and put a lot of pressure on themselves when they know they can't react in what they believe is the "normal" way.
I am not embarrassed for people who have Aspergers, just embarrassed for the poster in question as it's obvious she has a social condition that she can't control. Of course, you are right that not all people with Asperger's act so irrationally.
No slight intended to you. 🙂

Channy, you don't have to elaborate but it's fascinating to me that you're in this position - I've known parents who have been carers and I have known children who have been carers, but I have rarely met a sibling who would take care 24/7 of a brother who really needed it. I take it from your posts you're in your 40s or so? He is really lucky to have you.

Hhhmm Okay.
Still don't understand what you are on about sorry. I don't think I MISunderstand anything about what you said-just still don't understand sorry.
You said that Aspergers people suffer.....this does not make sense.
You said you were so very embarrassed for someone who has Aspergers.....I don't understand why this would be so.
You have failed to explain your comments even after I have replied asking you to pls explain why....??

Okay paints, I'll put it like this: I am embarrassed for a poster because of WHO she is not what SYNDROME she has.
I never said you MISunderstood. I said "Please don't misunderstand" which are two different things.
Some Aspergers people do suffer, as in the example I gave of several relatives whose social limitations give them great stress and unhappiness.
Please don't take everything so personally. As has already been mentioned, not all autistic people are the same, but the great majority I have known do suffer. This does not mean their condition is shameful, bad or makes them in any way inferior to others. Many people suffer but still triumph at the end. 🙂
