Those phones are fine as long as they are not really rotary.
I'm old enough to remember rotary and they were the stuff of nightmares. The number of times you would not have the thing dialled far enough around and have to start from scratch again. Push button is better.
I have no problem with landlines. We have mobiles phones here plus a landline and I prefer landline every time because
1/ It rings longer, gives me more of a chance tro get to it
2/ reception is clearer. I have to put mobiles up on speaker to hear them properly. Not a fan.
And reverting to a slightly different topic-running late/leaving work early.
This morning I had a doctor's appointment, 9am. Got there about 8.50am.
At 9.06am I see the doctor arrive, nod to the receptionists and head to her room.
She sees me a couple of minutes later.
I am back out at reception to pay by 9.11am.
This isn't the first time this has happened with various doctors. I like early appointments and quite often these doctors don't arrive till at least 5 minutes into what should be my appointment time.
What's with this habit?😧
I made my appointment about 3 days ago & out of interest, looked up hotdoc this morning and noticed the Dr only had one appointment time left today, at 1pm. So it isn't as if she couldn't know. You'd think if they were booked from 9am, they would & should be there from 8.50, if only to put their lunch in the staff fridge and settle down. She's a good Dr otherwise.

Bowie looks very cute. I am glad the horses have a proper stable and can get out of the elements if they want to.

Thinking about it Countess - and I do doubt it would work with the NBN - given even the landline we have the handsets have to be put in the dock attached to the modem and another black thingy to charge.
Why not just buy one - it would make a very nice decorator piece - right below the O'Keefe. 🤣
Kidding.
This is what I would do...............

Springyzone, it could be that the doctor had an emergency patient, perhaps. Or … her patients regularly fill up her days way past the time at which she’s supposed to finish, so she’s readjusting by a few minutes…?
I’m very very very VERY used to waiting at medical appointments, but admittedly it’s mostly at St Vincent’s. The specialists in outpatients are of course often called for hospital emergencies and that plays havoc with the timetable. The longest I’ve waited (and I can’t remember whether it was for me, for mum or for dad - so it was prior to 2020) was more than two and a half hours.
domino, I do want that ravishing phone - but it comes in a VOIP (SIP) version, a landline version, and a “hotel” version. They’re all push-button, made to imitate the rotary look. So… I need a phone / NBN expert to give me some expert advice. Little does our NBN provider know what questions will be flung at them…

Nope, she didn't have an emergency patient. she arrived at the (smallish) clinic at 9.06, I saw her walking in. And you can't 'readjust' times if you have a scheduled appointment.
Maybe I'm being harsh but when I was teaching, we sometimes had parent teacher interviews till 8.30pm. Makes for a long day. But we were expected to be there on time the next day, which meant before 8.30am. Imagine if I had thought I could wander in 6 minutes after starting time.
When I was a child, I used to go to St V's almost every Friday for a while. Our appointment was always 8am and we were uusually seen about 11am-12pm. I think everyone there just got an 8am appointment!
That was a long time ago, I presume it wouldn't be anything like that now.

Your doctor seems then to have a bit of a laissez-faire attitude towards start times… 🥼🩺😷⚕️🏥⏰🐇
The rabbit above is to signify WH in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!”

I know I'm a bit grumpy but she's not the only one at the clinic who has done this.
She was very pleasant but I was in and out of her room within 3 minutes (just a prescription repeat) which is fine, except it costs something like $91.50 and medicare only covers about $45 of that, from memory.
I (almost) wished I had some questions to pad out the time and get my money's worth!

What style of handset do you want, domino?
These should work… depending upon whst you prefer. https://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/household/cordless-phones.html
This had been a bit of a busy and difficult week so far, so I’ve not had a chance to talk to NBN expert about the gorgeous phones that appeal. Admittedly, in the dark of night I have been thinking about colour schemes and also trying in vain to find Georgian style curtain fabrics that eschew polyester. Ugh!
If I repaint the living room and kitchen and dining areas to either Wedgwood blue (sky blue) or dusty blue (both popular Georgian options), and along the bottom metre or so add wallpaper with feature panelling (contrasting colour?), then ought I to go for a blue in the curtains or should I use something contrasting? Too much sameness - bluh. Different in the wrong way - ugh.
So far I am quite charmed by this:
(But the cost? Ow - with the widths I need, ow, ow, ow.)
Much better cost. Very pretty - yet I keep looking at the first.

Beeeautiful here today.
Actually warm enough to get out in the garden.
Don't care Countess - as long as the phone works with the NBN.
Looked at the website - thank you for that - but none actually state - NBN compatible.
I know a couple of Panasonic are - checked out Officeworks - but not in stock.
