Thanks to all of you.
He was my dad, and I'll miss him, but it was his time to go. I hope he's with his grandson (my son) and son who went before him.
@imastawka - yes, I do appreciate that I have had so much time with both parents, and am sad that you didn't with your dad. I hope you have some good memories of your father.

When I hear the cello, I think of dad. He took up the cello after retiring.
Is there something musical that brings your father to mind?

Rain has stopped.
High winds for a day.
Now a beautiful day of sunshine - and we all know what that means - yep - washing. LOL
Stawks - that ' Great Wall ' - seems to have cost a fortune over the years.
I hope MTC - is doing OK - never easy to lose.

Thanks dom, I'm OK, just a bit all over the place at the moment.
Countess, your family and mine are completely different - my father was more interested in sport than classical music. But Bing Cosby's "White Christmas" was always one of his favourites.
He played golf every Saturday for years , and for a while took his young teenage daughter along to caddy - I must have been a real pain, but he was a good father . I didn't appreciate it at the time, but do now.

I started playing golf because a good friend of mine played and wanted me to play along with him and another friend.
I was frankly awful at it. In retrospect, I should have had lessons to stop the dreaded swing to the left, and I should have used sunscreen on a cloudy day on the green as well. Perhaps I should take it up againโฆ?
Dad was very into soccer. Heโd played in the Netherlands - not in first division, though, as heโd been run over by a truck as a boy, which landed him in hospital for 6 months. One leg ended up shorter than the otherโฆ and that impacted his playing, but he always loved watching the games, especially FIFA World Cup.
Mum would recount how sheโd be dragged along to watch local soccer games here in Australia, standing in the freezing cold โฆ Dad was sure sheโd love it, and couldnโt quite understand why mum wanted a reciprocal deal with him coming along to a ballet version of Princess and the Pea.
Classical music really only became a love for him years later.
He tried teaching mum the cello, but teaching an instrument is a great deal harder than it may look. She got no further than a nice bow technique; the fingering never came together.

Designers Who Deserve An Award For Their Stupid Ideas
I don't know why it's called 'stupid ideas'.
I think they're all pretty good.

Somehow that doesn't sound right when you say it like that.

LOL - I actually put a piece of wood into the pond - took a while to figure out stopping it floating - but is an escape route for the skinks and frogs.
