Would you believe they are trying to stop children at pre school blowing out candles because they might blow saliva onto the cake ?
I think it would be a lot worse in an aged care facility when someone turns 100, the mind boggles.

OK az you have every right to put your kids in a sterile bubble, you can roll them to school and plug them into their own personal free from germ and viruses oxygen tank. Teachers with rubber gloves can give them their work (sanitized) through the openings and speak to them through hygienic speakers. At recess they can be rolled into the playground and there they sit and watch all the other children play and have fun, eat birthday cake and get some germs on them.
wow.......what a reaction to somone's objection to having spit on their cakes........I think you need to accept that some people just don't like it.

Sorry to disappoint you.... they all go to mainstream schools, have accidents like everyone else, eat food, drink from their own water bottles, sit with children who have colds etc....... plenty of germs around, no need to spit on their food 😛
I am so glad to see they are normal kids from a normal home with normal parents who obviously believe interacting with their peers is (must I say) normal.
They will build up their immune systems and when they go to a party they may huddle around the birthday boy/girl when the candles are blown out and eat some of the birthday cake.

But who says that people actually spit on the cake ? I just made a comment about not being allowed to have birthday cakes because someone may sneeze, spit, cough etc near the cake. It's all about care and hygiene and may I say parents taking responsibility.

Well, it would be those people who have seen young children do it, obviously. We are talking about childcare centres and as I said before, unfortunately, not all parents do the responsible thing by keeping sick kids at home. There is a very good reason why children are taught from a very young age not to share water bottles or drinking cups. It is for that reason that blowing out candles by kids in childcare should not be recommended. IMO

OP, let me ask you this: if you ordered a sandwich and watched it being prepared, you noticed the person who was preparing your sandwich started to cough without attempting to turn away or otherwise avoiding to cough in the direction of your sandwich. Would you still buy it?

Yes we are talking about child care centres. Centres which do not comply won;t be punished.Blowing on candles is a risk...even more so children and even more so young children whose immune system has not yet developed. The sugar in the cake slacken the immune system also.I don't know why 1 kids joy at blowing out candles on 1 large cake should put others at risk of infection in a professional setting.Remember that most things have an incubation period of about 14 days so often you wouldn't know the child is infectious. If I needed to have my child in child care so that I could work I would not be happy if they got sick from something that could easily and simply be avoided.People travel more now bringing into this country new bugs.( you read that info I posted earlier you said NS?).Kids can blow out a candle and share the bugs at home if they wish.
So when I really look at it all another parent from a child care centre doesn't get the right to make that decision of risk to my child for the sake of some joy for theirs.
I am not germ freak. At home we have a dog coming in ..she pushes the door open...and our hand raised chook (who thinks she's a dog) follows lol.I see no need to have others blow on my childs food that's all.
I don't know how you expected to talk about this topic and say 'they are trying to ban' without anyone asking who they are and/or talking about the they ...it is political.
They are politicians .

Kids might like cupcakes for b'day cakes but I can't see many of the being that excited with a muffin for a party.
