Bad behaviour results in a far-from-merry non-Christmas

Meet the mother who cancelled Christmas.

While parents have always used Santa and Christmas as the ultimate bribe, Sydney mother of three Melissa Cooke finally acted on her threat two days before Christmas in 2011.

Her husband initially disagreed, but he came around, taking down the tree and decorations.

''I am relatively strict, but never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd follow through with cancelling Christmas,'' said Mrs Cooke, an office administrator.

Well just thanks Polk! I've spent however long it is since you posted reading Skipping Christmas, giggling insanely, and not getting any useful thing done.
Enjoying every moment of it though LOL

I see the family made the front page of the Sun Herald this morning, plus a full page inside.

Photos of the children and mum....all grinning and having a wonderful time with the exposure.

Great punishment  for bad behaviour......NOT..

I did it last year, and no it wasn't postponed, it didn't happen! It's the only time I've done it, and it was well deserved.

Mrs. Cooke cancelld Christmas in 2011, ince thn her children have learned a lesson and the recent pictures only show happiness.

Perhaps a few other frustrated mothers will try the same punishment, as you are not allowed to smack naughty kids anymore. Cancelling Christmas can not be regarded as child abuse, because millions of people don't celebrate Christmas.

not true, you can smack your own children, no law against reasonable discipline including smacking.

Also, she didn't cancel it, she delayed it for almost 3 weeks, she let them open the presents in January.
