I have no doubt it was done on Anzac day on purpose. Means nothing to them, means a lot to the majority of Australians. And frankly, isn't it kind of condescending to say they had no idea?

There are ten convicted drug smugglers - all but one of them foreign nationals - currently awaiting execution on Nusakambangan and Indonesia has repeatedly said it wants all 10 - including nationals of France, Brazil, Nigeria, Ghana and the Philippines - to face the same firing squad.

Do you seriously imagine the date for all of them to be executed was deliberately chosen just so Indonesia could have the satisfaction of announcing it on a day significent only to Australia (and maybe France)

Bollucks. I didn't even tie the announcement and ANZAC day together until ufo brought it up. Do you know all of the important days for Indonesia? Does our prime minister?
Pure coincidence.

Are you really that naive about the way the world is these days? They knew, they know, they want to make the message they send count..
And p!ss off with your political agenda. You don't get your way both ways.

I'm not sure it's deliberate , it may have been, but it's not just our country that has been in serious talks with Indonesia, France in particular has been very vocal about Indonesia's legal system and has made implied threats about their relations is they execute one of their country men. I think they would send France a message before us.

What is the connection between the commemoration of landing at Gallipoli and the execution of 2 drug smugglers that makes it innappropriate for the announvement to have occurred on that day?
What would the Indonesians gain by making the announcement that day? What point did it make? What message?
None as far as I can see.
It seems that some are reading things between the lines that do not exist.

I think you're right. After all, would it not have been a more pertinent and powerful message if the actual executions were held on Anzac Day - the day we commemorate the deaths of thousands of Aussies?
Like all good conspiracy theorists, some are drawing conclusions and links where there are none.

I think it was done on purpose.
Did they amass the army to transport the others to the island? did they charter a special plane for them and fill it with military personnel? did they do all this under the glare of television camers? did they have tanks and armed soldiers to escort the others to the airport? did high up officials accompany the others and take trophy pictures on the plane? No they didn't. This was a special message to Australia that they couldn't care less about our country and our tradition's, a slap in the face of all of us imo.
