This article reveals that there had never been the death penalty in Indonesian courts, implying that it is imposed only if prisoners do not pay what is demanded.

Thanks for posting,
Nothing about this surprises me as the corruption in Indonsesia infects everything. To order the judiciary to impose the death penalty staggers the mind, the whole trial was rigged from the very beginning by the looks of it.

I suspect that all trials are rigged, and only those with on-the-ball lawyers and $ escape with minor sentences. An Australian woman escaped the death penalty only because there was plenty of bribe money available.

Distasteful doesn't even come near it, I could think of many other words to describe it but I will not besmirch the day of our fallen to indulge in it.
You are assuming that Indonesians are aware that it was ANZAC day. Do you think that they thought about it and wondered which day to issue the execution notice to upset Australians? Why bother? Are you aware of one single important day in Indonesia?

A few hundred years ago everyone believed that the Earth was the centre of the Universe and every other star and planet - including the sun - revolved round it.. Some Australians have a similar view of Australia's status in the Asia Pacific region.

My opinion........ the media linked it to Anzac Day, not the Indonesians.

oops, didn't see your previous post, which said petty much what I did.
I do not think Indonesia gives a hoot what we think; if they did they would have responded to our government's pleas for clemency.

I wonder what will happpen after these 2 men are executed. Murder is murder even when it's cloaked in state sanction.
Wododo has left the country for some event but his standing has dropped severely in the eyes of the wider world and even in Indonesia.
Will Australia still give them $600 million a year? and why are we giving them $600 million a year, bribe perhaps? so they will buy our meat?

I agree, but wait for the blame game to start after these 2 men are killed, who will they blame for this?
