Heard on the news tonight both the Chan and Sukamaran families are holding open funerals for Andrew and Myuran.
Andrew Chan's funeral will be at the Hillsong Church, opposite where I work, on Friday.
I believe Sukarmarans funeral will be televised.
Wouldn't you think the families would have given their boys a dignified funeral and not made a media circus out of it?
The media will be in a frenzy.

If Andrew Chan wrote his own eulogy and it will be read out at the funeral, then I assume the Media will be there to broadcast his last words.
Right or wrong, this is news that sells.

Wouldn't you think people would leave the families alone to grieve and send off their sons/brothers etc in any way they choose? Funerals are for the living.

I'm sorry Az, but I think it's tacky to make celebrities out of the 2 men. They weren't heros.
Fair enough their reformation was impressive but they were still ringleaders in a drug smuggling operation with the objective to bring drugs into Australia. Drugs destroy thousands of young lives and families in Australia, and the young ppl recruited by Chan and Sukamaran are still rotting away in jails in Indonesia.
I don't think it's right to give them the equivalent of a state funeral as if they were martyrs.

Making heros out of drug peddling scum, sadly it does not say anything favourable about the families to allow that or to promote that. but some will do anything for dollars.

Totally agree pod, the drug peddling scum should have been buried in an unmaked grave on the execution island.

I wonder if they'll get paid for it if it's televised?
I suppose that'd one way to recoup the cost of airfares and accommodation while they were in Indonesia visitng their boys.
I'm sure it won't be long before media production companies make all sorts of documentaries and television series out of it.

They were not boys.

They were boys at some time in their life, before they became drug pedelling scum
