......under what "right" are people paid to exist without doing anything for their payment.?
Is it just because they exist?

Possibly - more of an 'expectation' these days.
Here - there are 'third generation' - dole.
Unbelievable.
When did we cease taking respnsibility for ourselves - and - begin to expect the Govt. to do it.
Have a child - raise him/her - no - now it means a 'handout'.
Get a job - as our fathers did - naaaa beach.
Etc. Etc. Etc.

If you extrapolate that "right" to everyone, where will the payments come from? Who will work so that others can just do nothing?
Oh that's right there is the "Big end of Town" ( you know thw ones that the ones on lower incomes frown upon) and if that groups decides that they have had enough? What then?

Then we get another class. Both lower some trying to better themselves, the other expecting their existance to be covered by the Government of the day. They are owed it, you know?

They will have to earn a living then, so that wont happen.
Do I detect violence rearing its ugly head when the "right" to a free hand out is denied?
Typical, is that union/Labor ethos

Well, it's an interesting concept.
No unemployment benefits - work or starve. Of course there aren't currently enough jobs to go round so we'd have to do something about that. I know, lets abolish the minimum wage, then more employers would be able to take on employees. No minimum wage and no dole would enable a race to the bottom for employers wanting to maximise profits. Eventually though it would become impossible to feed a family on one or even two wages. Oops! But wait! if we also lowered the school leaving age - we could abolish public high schools - then children could be sent out to work at age 12 and the Government would save millions on eduction.

It would appear that the 'Protection Racket" of the '30s and '40s is alive and well, only the name has been changed.

Happened to watch CA last night. There are many out there like that mother and daughter, so many excuses for not being able to work.
Left previous job because I was stressed, now have a child, have to be there for them (no mention of the father), can't afford childcare, yet mother and daughter and collective kids live in the same house. One could work, the other could look after the kids. But it's much easier just taking the payments.
Even working part time indicates that someone is not after a free ride.
