If Joe Citizen pulls off a $2000 swiftie on the social security apparatus he could invite a stint behind bars for his second offence.

If Joe Corporation Limited pulls off a fancy $200 million tax scam and is pinged by the Australian Taxation Office, it merely behaves in an indignant and victimised manner, cites its expensive legal advice and appeals the impertinence of the taxman in the Federal Court.

Joe Citizen picks up a good deal of the costs - the silks, the solicitors, the lot - even if Joe Corporation loses.

Appealing and appealing again are deductible expenses of doing business.

The point of all this is that tax is soon to be an increasingly public issue globally as governments struggle to fund their

deficits in the face of ever more sophisticated corporate tax frolics.

Let's not forget also that the banks make billions in profit every year yet they won't compensate those unfortunates that got fleeced by the banks financial advisors.

Absolute rubbish, many with a university degree cannot get a job. Before you say but they could pick apples there aren't apple trees where I live, should every unemployed person with a degree move to Tasmania? Be honest about it poddy, there is something seriously wrong with the lack of jobs, not workers.

Why do people move to Australia if they don't like our "rights"?

Why move to Australia and then proceed to share the hatred for the people that were here before them?

Joanie, this is Australia, A-U-S-T-R-A-L-I-A.  It is a large island-nation in the Southern Hemisphere.  We have kangaroos and venomous snakes.  A-U-S-T-R-A-L-I-A doesn't have a Bill of Rights with all sorts of Amendments about bearing arms and so forth. 

The USA (where you are from) is a large country in the Northern Hemisphere with lots of people, weak beer, lots of guns and a Bill of Rights that makes sure everyone is free to defend themselves against weak beer when they go shopping.

Just out of interest, Austria, A-U-S-T-R-I-A is a small landlocked country in Europe where people listen to Mozart all day and speak a funny form of German.
