Banoffee Pie Anyone?

I'd never heard of it til I it mentioned on Facebook last night:

Here's A Recipe

At first I thought "banoffee" was some sort of scottish/irish word, you know, like bansee, til I realised it was a combination of banana and toffee.

This recipe is quicker to make and  has less sugar in it.

Has anyone ever used that Top 'n Fill caramel?

I did the cheat's Banoffee Pie once and when I cut it the caramel oozed out

all over the plate and I had an empty pie case! 

And yes, I did chill it first (for 2 hours!)

When I use it as a filling I generally stir a bit of dissolved gelatine into it.

My gripe is, you shouldn't have to.

It should be ready to use as is
