Had a great time in Mackay visiting my DD and her family.
It was hot but cooled down at night.
They'd had little rain and all the lush greenery and all the little rock-and waterfalls in the creeks and swimming holes had dried out since my last visit at Easter time.
We did lots, went swimming, bike riding ( I fell off the bike and grazed my knee badly), and shopped til we dropped. They have nicer fashions in Mackay than here in Sydney IMO. I think they try harder.
Went to Proserpine to watch my 23yo grandson ride his racing bike around the track
Got our hair and nails done in town.
This city dweller enjoyed the chooks and 2 cats and 2 dogs, and the owls and other night creatures screeching at night in the middle of cane country with no street lights and no traffic noise. A bit spooky but nice spooky.
Good time all round.
Here's your souvenir:

Went to the movies to see "Gravity" with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. It was ok hmm hmm.
Finally got to watch the DVD of Baz Luhrmans "The Great Gatsby" - omg it was bad.

Glad you had a nice time in the sunshine Icy. I've never been a fan of Baz Luhman, IMO he takes a perfectly good storyline and ruins it
I didn't mind "Australia", Deb, but I hated "Moulin Rouge" and his version of " The Great Gatsby" was ghastly.
I wouldn't mind watching the original version with Robert Redford.
