Being a Cop in Australia

Vision has been released of an “appalling” alleged attack on two NSW Police officers including a female senior constable who was punched and dragged to the ground by her hair before a clump was ripped from her scalp.

The officers were called to a home in Buff Point on the Central Coast late on Tuesday night after reports of a domestic incident.

William Peter Kershaw, 35, allegedly became increasingly violent and resisted arrest after police arrived at the scene.

“A struggle ensued when the officers attempted to arrest the man; the man allegedly spat in the male officer’s face,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The female officer was punched in the face several times before being dragged to the ground by her hair. A clump of hair was ripped from her scalp during the arrest.

“The female officer became increasingly distressed when she was grabbed around the neck and choked.

“The male officer was then allegedly elbowed in the face and had his genitals twisted by the man before additional police assisted and released him.”

Just another day at the office for our police officers.

I would take the knee for these men and women that put their safety and lives on the (blue) line to protect the general public, many of whom wish to visit violence on them.

We still haven't heard the outcome of this.

I heard on the ABC yesterday   that   the  driver of the  Porsche is  still in custody  facing at least 9 ch  arges.  He is not on parole as he is considered at risk of heading for the hills.   Sorry no link but it  will be there.

Hope they slam him where it hurts.

what about all the other professions where you can get hurt in the line of your work?

nurses and doctors, ambos, firefighters

they choose to put themselves into jobs that can see them injued

lets not single out the police as the only ones

however, how often do we hear about nurses, doctors, ambos or firefighters beating up a person in cuffs or being held down by others?

yes, being a cop is a dangerous, being a bad cop makes it more dangerous for every cop

The problem for police is this boys club mentality that exists within the force. One of the most outrageous examples of criminal impunity was the death of a man, a human being  in Palm Island. Well, we all know the story there. Coroner finds that his liver was nearly cleaved in half like cheese on a chopping block.

And was the perpetrator punished??????

Nnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In truth the outcome was the opposite! The punishment was heaped on this man instead!  He was jailed for the sins of another. Made a scapegoat of!

Anyone who believes the official version of this needs to re-arrange their thinking in a big way or risk living the rest of their lives as a fool.. Anyone who parrots the official version so they can still stay in their comfort-zone needs to have a serious look at themselves. This is why many people have a hatred of  the police. This needs to be rectified ASAP!

The OP has made a good point. In spite of there being a lot of people in the force that should never be there, the majority of Australian police are hard working, honest people who  put themselves at risk to keep us safe. That needs to be celebrated.

And being a criminal means that you will eventually come under the police radar. And if you're a violent criminal and start threatening or throwing your weight around, they're going do a bit more than give you a slap on the wrist.

totally agree, a criminal can be a danger to a cop

but a cop knows that

a nurse doesnt see every patient as a danger (maybe they should)

a nurse usually just sees someone who needs help, the fact sometimes that person goes ape shyte and hurts him/her is not on the mind.

i hope every police officer is on high alert all the time for danger.

Nurses are in constant danger from infection and assault. Plus, they are being spat on, as the police are. And mental health nurses are in great danger and are being assaulted and injured every day. You just don't know about it because it's not in the media's interest to look into it. Why would they when they have got the country in a frenzy about the police. Stay tuned tho, I'm sure something will happen in the future!

The hidden victims are hapless single guys who legitimately front up at admissions , and get shadowed by imposing security , an affront to ones self-respect being treated as a likely danger and of a criminal mindset

Is that anyway for a civilised society to have to conduct itself , or are we to soft on violent aggressive types with the result that they feel free to violate ?

The hidden victims are the nurses, doctors, ambulance workers, firefighters, and other people who have to deal with an unpredictable public. Who do you think are abusing and assaulting them? And then there are the military and police who literally risk their lives for us every day they are in active service. But the police are the targets now because of the actions of a few, of which some were in other countries. I imagine the thousands of good police officers in Australia are feeling like the criminals are currently seen as the good guys and they the bad guys!
