In a recent poll, American voters were asked whether they were in favour of bombing the city of Agrabah.
Evidently, some American voters are convinced Agrabah is some of diabolical real-world place where enemies are plotting the downfall of the United States. And as long as it sounds sort of vaguely Middle Eastern, that’s all that matters.
What’s wrong with these findings? Oh that’s right. Agrabah is a fictional city located only in Disney’s Aladdin.
btw, before anyone gets upset, I'm not having a go at Americans. I'm having a go at stupid.

OMG !! that is a real worry about the state of the the way a lot of people are thinking now days

If you watch American news you will understand just how frightened Americans are of being mowed down in public places by Islamic terrorists.
It's the uncertainty that now public places are no longer safe, govt offices, cinemas and malls are all in the line of fire.
Americans have been told to arm themselves and shoot the terrorist.
It's a new kind of terrorism we are all facing with IS telling their killers to hit soft targets and do maximum killing of men, women and children.

Yes, but presumably not by Disney characters. It's the total lack of thinking that's the problem with this story.

or maybe they just went with it.
after all, why would PPP insert a funny
question?
On 18 December 2015, Public Policy Polling released a new poll concerning presidential candidates and their supporters. While the poll sought to ascertain the public's opinion in matters such as gun control, immigration, and the minimum wage, the media was more concerned with an odd question about the fictional city of Agrabah from the animated movie Aladdin:
Would you support or oppose bombing Agrabah?
PPP found that 30% of Republicans were in favor of bombing the fictional city, while 13% were opposed. Donald Trump had the largest percentage of supporters in favor of bombing Agrabah (41% for and 9% against) while only 11% of John Kasich fans supported the idea:
While several publications used PPP's data to paint Republicans in a negative light, the above-displayed data does not show the entire picture. For instance, when PPP posed the same question to Democratic voters, 19% of them supported bombing Aladdin's hometown:
The numbers get even murkier when you look at the data for voters who consider themselves liberals or conservatives. 50% of Republicans who identified as "somewhat liberal" said that they were in favor of bombing of Agrabah but only 25% of Republicans who identified as "somewhat conservative" said the same:
For Democrats, 24% of those who identified as "moderate" were in favor of Agrabah's destruction:
So what can we learn from these numbers? Nothing, really. Perhaps 31% of Republican voters don't want to see Jafar in power. Perhaps 19% of Democrats are anti-genie. Perhaps many Americans need to brush up on their geography and/or Disney trivia.
Or perhaps PPP inserted a funny question into their poll to amuse themselves.
You can see the full Public Policy Poll here.

That might be true, but I'm not and haven't met anyone who is frightened. Just people who know the score, and want to settle it once and for all.

I think the article is a propaganda piece created by democrats to put down Republicans, and Donald Trump...they're getting desperate. Who gave this poll? Were the people given the poll hand picked? Again, by who(M). What was the exact question? Maybe.... 'The middle east city of Agrabah is a hotbed of extremist where numerous terrorist attacks are launched from...do you favour bombing them?'
Does everyone here know every middle east city? I looked at the list and heard of MAYBE 10% of them (less).
Is it so far fetched most adults here (and there too) aren't familiar with a fictional city from a cartoon?
So, the thinking part comes in when you question what the news says.
But let's take a look at Agrabah.....(all short clips)
A baffoon leads the city...his "most trusted advisor" (Jafar), an evil dude who practices witchcraft and sorcery in an effort to rule the world. He also abuses animals.

Jafar's assistant, a murdering thief who in this scene admits he had to "slit a few throats to get it". "It" being a gold piece to aid Jafar in his quest to rule the world. He also abuses animals.

The movie opens to a scene with the narrator running his camel into the ground and shows off the defective goods he sells. Another thief and animal abuser.

If it weren't for Aladdin and HIM finding the magic lamp with the genie in it we'd all be doomed to be ruled by the evil and ruthless Jafar.
So...maybe they do need to be bombed! You never know, next time Aladdin might not be so lucky.

The prime target will be Jafar.

What else are Americans afraid of?
And how much rational thinking is used before one agrees with one Bigmouth?

Just google; Americas Energy Madness, and you will find such drivvel about going on in Kansas, North Carolina and other places.
To me that shows how little some people know and just spout rubbish. Like the day I travelled to Melbourne with my DIL and one guy (with olive skin) shouted at my DIL to go back wher she came from. She just laughed and told him;
" I will after Christmas. Townsville is a much better place."
My DIL is halfcaste aboriginal, but looks very much like an Indian woman.
People that are incapable or to lazy to think for themself can cause an awful lot of trouble.
