Bondi hoarders’ house in Waverley Council sights for 15th clean-up early 2015

WAVERLEY Council is preparing to launch its 15th clean-up of the infamous ‘Bondi Hoarders’ house but this time also hopes to venture inside the home and demolish the garage.

The council will request permission in court to not just clear the front yard of the Boonara Ave residence, home to Mary, Elena and Liana Bobolas, but also go into the home to remove vegetation growing wild in the roof.

A spokesman said council aimed to appear in court before the end of the year to discuss the matter and hopes to have a clean-up date in early 2015.

“We’re expecting a court date to be set early next year, which is to apply to clean the ... outside of the property, demolish the garage and remove the vegetation growing in the house,” the spokesman said.

He highlighted the plants sprouting from the Californian style home’s roof as being of a particular safety concern.

“And we’re still pursuing court costs,” the Waverley Council spokesman said.

Ratepayers have forked out more than $350,000 for legal fees and clean-up costs during the 14 times the home has been previously cleaned.

It has been a mere eight months since the last clean-up was performed by 11 workers from The Rubbish Taxi.

It took them four days of loading a mixture of items into skips to clear the area.

The belongings taken away in April included a give way/round about sign, roof tiles, luggage, toy pirate sword, bricks, pot plants and swimming pool noodle floaties.

Good, look forward to the 16th clean up thread. Everyobe can repeat their same tolerant views & questions on there..
Meanwhile nothing changes..family still hoards, council left with clean up bill.

You'll know what to look for then next year so you can avoid the thread.

From what I've seen about it, I just think it's a really sad situation, sad for the neighbors having to live in a mess and sad for these women who obviously have some kind of mental illness and can't control themselves . They must keep themselves up to date with paying their rates so the council is pretty much tied up here

So we can brace ourselves for many more of these threads revved up by The Daily Telegraph which serve no purpose really.

Yep. You should be prepared for more threads like this and as the title clearly says what they are about, you can choose to ignore them.

As to the purpose they serve, well if someone wishes to start a thread on this topic or any other news topic that does not break ebay rules then that is their choice

My goodness - what a great thread. There were so many worthwhile comments to quote but this perhaps is the best.

My only complaint, ddb, is don't you think you were being a little too tolerant to refer to these hoarders as simply pigs? I would have used much stronger terminology myself.

Do you have anyone in your family who is mentally ill. Nero?

If you did, you would not have posted the article in order to attract comments that have occurred.

So I guess your relatives can relate to this story?

You should post your house on the My Day thread.  It's a good place for tips on renovations.

If I posted my house on the My Day thread - you would all feel ashamed of your own abodes...

I don't think they can really do anything about it. They could force them to attend a psych appointment each week, doesn't mean they'll cooperate beyond attending the appointment. They could force them from their home by condeming it, but then they're homeless and they'll just move their stashes to public areas and abandoned buildings. The council are doing the only thing they can do.
