Bondi hoarders the Bobolas family camp out to protect pile of rubbish

How would you like to be their neighbours or even live within a block of this major health and vermin hazard.  The council and the rate payers just keep on paying over and over to clean up this massive mess.

BONDI hoarders Mary Bobolas and her daughters Elena and Liana are so attached to their rubbish they kept guard over it through the night following an incident involving a good Samaritan, a repossessed truck and the police.

Dressed in black, perched on garden chairs or sleeping on the ground, half hidden by rubbish, the Bobolas family spent a cold Wednesday night watching over the hoard on a grass strip next to a busy intersection in Alexandria

The piles of rubbish are just a fraction of what has been building up for years at the infamous hoarders’ Boonara Ave, Bondi, family home.

The family found itself camped out in Alexandria, 15km by road from their Bondi home, after a rental truck they were using was repossessed.

Since the NSW Court of Appeal approved Waverley Council’s bid to clean up the house in Boonara Avenue, the family has been camping out in the cab of a pantech hired from rental car company, Thrifty.

Re: Bondi hoarders the Bobolas family camp out to protect pile of rubbish

Bondi’s famous hoarders the Bobolas have started to pile up rubbish just weeks after clean-up

THE rubbish is back but few are surprised. Less than 24 hours after Waverley Council finished their 14th clean-up at the home of Sydney’s most notorious hoarders the stinking rubbish started festering once again.

And now about a quarter of the 200 cubic metres of junk which was removed has returned to Mary, Elena and Liana Bobolas’ Californian style house on Boonara Ave, Bondi.

On April 11 it took 11 workers from The Rubbish Taxi cleaning service five days to clear the yard around the home after neighbours complained to council.

Among the masses of rubbish they removed a give way sign, toy pirate sword, swimming pool noodle floaties, a children’s playhouse tent, bricks, tiles and much more.

Waverley Council said they have already spent more than $350,000 of ratepayer funds on legal and cleaning costs associated with the Bobolas family.

“We are disappointed to see rubbish return to the Boonara Avenue property so soon after we cleaned it and we are working to break this cycle and stop history repeating itself,” a Waverley Council spokesman said.

The deterioration of the house is apparent when looking at earlier pictures. The house will need to be condemned at some point.

It's a sad story made sadder by the glee some people get from gloating about the situation.

Yes it is very sad.

My husband is left handed, when he was at school the nuns used to come along and use the ruler across his left hand and tell him he must write with his right hand. That didn't help much.

These women are hoarders, it comes from their brain. Getting rid of the rubbish is good for the surrounding community but it does little to help them.

What do feel should be done to help them Donna? That hasn't been done?

Re: Bondi hoarders the Bobolas family camp out to protect pile of rubbish

Do all junkies seek professional help? Even if it is offered? For free?

Does locking a fat person up away from food stop their desire to eat?

Does smacking someone's right hand make them left handed?

Does cleaning up the Bondi Hoarders home stop them from their desire to hoard?

It's not working. it has nil affect on me that these women hoard so I don't feel compelled to find a solution, however I think taking everything away in one go like they did is probably wrong and it would probably help if it was done more gradually.

Live and let live within reason, I find some of the right wing propaganda far more offensive and dangerous than the odd person that hoards.

I think they don't want to be helped. They're not idiots. They have total comprehension of the law and know how to work it to their advantage.

I think they just want to trash their place because they can and nyah nyah na na na to their neighbours and the council.

That seems to me to be a very cruel attitude to an Internationally recognised illness needing specialized treatment.
