Boycott Bali

If the horrific murder of two Australians is carried out then we should boycott Bali and all things Indonesian.

We gave over a $billion dollars to this country after the tsunami, we prop then up with foreign aid and they spit in our faces.

They have  ignored all diplomatic attempts to mitigate their sentences and Watta a Joko has now signed the order to send them to the "killing Island" wouldn't want to kill them on Bali now would they, might upset the tourism business.

I'm appalled and disgusted, scared and frightened for these men and heartsick for their families.

Interesting article talking about the case of the 2 Aussie men from an ex user's point of view.

"It might deter a few smugglers. But not for long. Thereโ€™s always going to be young, easily replaceable people willing to strap drugs

onto their bodies in countries that carry the death penalty for doing so โ€ฆ. simple foot soldiers in a war that has long been lost."

I would've expected an ex-drug addict to convey how important it is, to not allow these drugs to hit the streets in the first place!

She could of said so much more........

Good to read that it might deter some though.

Re: Boycott Bali

Here's an opinion on boycotting Bali from Balinese band Superman Is Dead:

As Balinese, we donโ€™t have racist inclinations towards anyone. Absolutely not. But we think the idea that SOME Australians have, about boycotting Bali because of the death sentence that two convicted Aussie drug smugglers have received on Indonesian soil, is an over-reaction.

We understand that SOME Australians are asking for a lighter sentence, but to threaten a boycott of Bali? Bali has very high numbers of tourists from countries other than Australia, including Japan, China, Russia, USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand and all our Asian neighbours and can in fact survive without Australian tourism.

Those threatening to boycott Bali probably do not realise that many of us Balinese feel sick to our stomachs, to see the way SOME Aussie tourists completely disrespect our people and our culture.

There is a percentage of them who act like kings, as if anything can be bought with their Australian dollars. They are over-confident and think that even the basics of Indonesian law can be influenced by their threats of boycott.

This is an opportunity for us to tell youโ€ฆthe way SOME Aussie tourists behave over here is unacceptable and we can really do without that type of tourist so please, if you are in that category, do stay away. Mutual respect is what is needed from from all sides and that includes respecting and abiding by each other's laws.

To those Aussies threatening to boycott Bali we would say firstly there are two sides to every coin and secondly if you come here and break our laws, you will be punished no matter who you are just as we would be if breaking laws in your country.

Bali doesnโ€™t need rubbish. No country does. RESPECT! THATโ€™S WHAT WE ALL NEED!

Tony Abbott does seem to be stepping up the pressure.

The mods have indeed removed some of the abusive posts.  Thank you, mods..

I agree with you that all this publicity might deter some, but the problem is that there are others who are successful, and they know that, and either their addiction or their lust for money overrides any fear.

There was no abusive posts from me and the sanction I thanked the mods for posting has been removed as well in my favour. So your "coffee" comments and April  parallel universe insults and numerous denials  that you even posted them are still on here.

If you are unwilling to comment on the very serious topic of this thread then may I suggest you desist from disrupting it with your constant denial and insulting posts directed towards me. The mods stepped in before about this and I hope they step in again.

Re: Boycott Bali

Thanks for posting that icy but I'm afraid these "Balinese" totally miss the mark about how deeply Australians feel about the state sanctioned murder of two of our citizens.

All that article seems to to be about is their tourist dollars and how Australians  can go to blazes.

If they felt so hard done by after over 45  years and longer of fleecing Australian tourists why didn't they speak up earlier. Why didn't they subject tourists to normal rules and regulations when using their premises, why? the almighty tourist dollar that's why.

They fall a micron short of calling all Australians racists, I wonder they didn't go the whole insult and offend a whole nation because that's what their country is doing, Australia is not murdering their citzens.

Hypocrite comes to  mind when I read that article, they still want the Aussie tourist dollar.

I skimmed over all those posts, so no real idea of what is missing or what the actual content was..............

What does the bolded bit mean exactly?

I think you have misunderstood Polks posts. (my opinion only)

Re: Boycott Bali

I don't get it either.  The posts were removed in my favour.  Evidence.

In the same post that was referred to (this last time), I did discuss the topic, but have been told I did not.      Smiley Indifferent

I see no direction towards anyone, either, (except to the mods)
