If the horrific murder of two Australians is carried out then we should boycott Bali and all things Indonesian.
We gave over a $billion dollars to this country after the tsunami, we prop then up with foreign aid and they spit in our faces.
They have ignored all diplomatic attempts to mitigate their sentences and Watta a Joko has now signed the order to send them to the "killing Island" wouldn't want to kill them on Bali now would they, might upset the tourism business.
I'm appalled and disgusted, scared and frightened for these men and heartsick for their families.

Julia
Yes, I read the ORIGINAL Article which had both the photos AND who took them, but of course
the rest of the media as you say picked up the photos but not who took them.
And then everyone jumps on the band wagon.
As you say, bizarre and insensitive.
I wish I could find that article in the Age re the reason for this circus.

For those of us who do not own a phone that takes photos, that is the only way to have a selfie taken. Ask someone else to take a pic while we pose. Duh! That's what my selfies would look like.

I just looked back at the photos, they all have "Supplied: Kompas TV" on the captions, even the SMH/The Age.
Polks
We know that, we also know that he didn't ask them to be taken !
So they can't be selfies which is the point we were trying to say.

"For those of us who do not own a phone who takes photos" sounds much better, don't you think?

i think polksa is saying the commissioner
handed his camera to the tv reporter and ask
him to take his "selfie"
a selfie denotes a picture being taken
of oneself by himself for a specific purpose.
it is not the same as photos taken by tv reporter.
whoever initially reported that it was a selfie -
obviously wanted to create the wrong impression.

Oh julia, you've never taken a selfie, have you?
And I know why!!!

"whoever initially reported that it was a selfie -

Yep, spot on.
That's exactly why they used the word "Selfie" in the heading,
knowing damn well it would get traction.

No, a phone is not human.

More human than some of us 😉
