Brian Dennehy, the winner of two Tonys in a career that also spanned films including Tommy Boy, First Blood and Cocoon, and television roles including Dynasty and Death of a Salesman, died on Wednesday night in New Haven, Conn. He was 81.
A very talented actor. He will be missed.

A good actor...but I also remember this incident from his career:
Actor Brian Dennehy claimed for years that he served a five-year tour as a Marine in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action. In reality, Dennehy's only Vietnam "action" was on-screen in "A Rumor of War", in which he portrayed a Marine gunnery sergeant. While Dennehy did serve in the Marines, it was not in Vietnam; his only "combat duty" was playing football in Okinawa in 1962.
That's the trouble with false claims of military action.....the Marines (and all the other services) keep very good records which can easily be checked.

Yes he was a very good actor with a very powerful presence. Not a great Stallone fan but Dennehy was great as rhe tunnel thinking vengeful cop in "First Blood". He could play villains very well too. I remember him in the film, "Prophet of Evil: The Ervil LeBaron Story", playing the Mormon cult leader .One scary dude. He played that part well.

The excellent William Devane played Daniel "Dan"Fields the guy who was investigating him.
For some reason Dennehy reminds me a biit of Brian Keith.. Ah, someone thinks the same thing
