Brick & mortar vs ebay

I know we had that sort of topic before but...

we went to lincraft, we are were regular customers buying all sorts of things there.

however last ime we went there we bought a small item and had the bag rummaged through thoroughly.

it spoiled the day. being a good, paying regular customer and being treated as a thief.

when we came home i looked on ebay and surprise, surprise i could have got the same item for a fraction of the price (about 1/10).

today i discovered that i needed some stuff. before that bag search we would have gone into the city to buy it from lincraft without even thinking of looking on ebay but instead i had a look on ebay. found the item for a fraction of the price (no, not from china but from QLD).

i LIKE to shop in brick & mortar stores. i am fine with paying 10x the price for the luxury to see the item in real life before i buy it BUT i just can't accept to be treated as a thief.

we have shopped there for years....there were very few customers in there and now i know why.

i don't think it's a good idea to alienate the few customers they have left.

that is not good enough. it just isn't.

anyway, rant over now. won't go back they can get stuffed.

respected and valued customer?

what are they thinking?

that i pay 10 times the price to be humiliated?

apart from that: the item was small, as are most of the stuff they sell. i could have hidden it in my crotch/pocket/etc.

what's next?

a full on body search including cavities?

it's just plain silly.

if i really wanted to steal something i wouldn't put a tiny item into a big bag, i would hide it on my body where they don't look for it (yet).

it's not just that it is humiliating and unfair, it's also incredibly inefficient and pointless unless they really do the whole body search including cavities.

and all that if you want to buy a few buttons?

come on!

You say it was in the city.

I don't know where it is or was it in a suburb ?

Maybe they have been hit lately by shoplifters ?

chameleon

Where was that ?

i don't care if they are hit by shoplifters. that is THEIR problem not mine.

it does not give them the right to treat me like bleep.

i am a premium paying customer and deserve respect and dignity.

anyway, they won't see me again. i am buying it all on ebay now.

We live in a regional centre with a population of around 10,000 people. We also have thousands of tourists.

When they searched your bag, how did they do it and did they put their hands inside the bag when searching

OR empty the stuff out and look at it ?

what does it matter?

the point is that they searched the bag.

it does not matter if she put her hands into the bag or not. it's about being treated as if we were thiefs. i almost said something like "if you think we stole something, call the police and we will wait for them, otherwise we just walk out".

to humour you: she rummaged through the bag. (not mine but the bag hubby was carrying).
