Friday night I was looking to buy frozen chips. Friday night is fish n chips night, right?
I usually get either McCains or Birds Eye crinkle cut chips in an attempt to buy Australian.
So all they had in the Fridges was McCains SHOESTRING chips or Birdseye POTATO WEDGES.
All other chips, crinkle cut or straight cut, were Coles brand
So I was forced to buy Coles brand if I wanted crinkle cut. Oh it was cheap cheap at only $2 for the 1kg pack!
So manipulated.

You should try their online shopping - talk about angst.
No matter what you search for if there's a homebrand version that always comes up first.
Sometimes you have to wade through lines of their stuff to get to the brand names....and that's even when I've put a brand name in the search.

No, but it's a pain if you haven't much time or simply can't be bothered.
Even back in the day before frozen chips my mother would gladly delegate that job to my father.
Aside from outdoor BBQs that's about all the cooking he did.

First world problem. Often I find what I want isn't avail, but the home brands are there instead.
from their site
McCain Foods (Aust) Pty Ltd and McCain Foods (NZ) Limited are both wholly owned subsidiaries of McCain Foods Limited in Canada and are part of the global McCain group of companies.
A lot of McCain frozen produce is from NZ.

I'm not familiar with 'brickbats' either.
