Thoughts about the Feds not allowing cattle to graze in National Parks?
They stopped a whole industry because of animal abuse overseas, yet are quite happy to allow these animals to starve to death in Australia.

Perhaps the graziers should just shoot the cattle, film it and get the ABC to air it on Four Corners.
National Parks, especially the ones in the north west of Qld are full of feral pigs and do not have huge visitor numbers.

i totally agree that grazing in national parks causes terrible destruction to the land. Australian flora is not compatible with hooved animals. I also agree that other small businesses fold when they fail and are not given continual handouts and help by governments. if a farm is no longer economically viable then it is time to move on.
unfortunately too often a farmer's 'moving on' is to commit suicide

yep.. just shut down and move on.... lets not worry about food security...
These farmers are over stocked and that is all a direct result of the knee jerk reaction to the horrible footage we saw.....
They did not think about the people that would be impacted and livelihoods lost. What the government did has had long lasting problems that you can't fix with just throwing more money at the farmers.
They are shooting cattle... they are doing it right now... how do people feel about the animals being shot dead and left to rot?

I think it's a terrible waste, but I would rather they were shot dead than left to starve slowly to death.

More proof that this failed Labor gov has no idea of what is important, they are incapable of ruling in any coherent or responsible manner.
Labor is resposible for the overcrowding of cattle because they destroyed an industry in a knee jerk reaction & destroyed all faith by Indonsia to trust any Labor Australian gov.
They pander to the inner city Greens, the elites who wouldn't know what Australia is all about.
To put their concerns over the livelihood of an industry that is on its knees is just what you expect from this lisping poodle.
By all accounts Campbell Newman will tear up this stupid agreement, allow the farmers to protect our food source & deal with it all after this incompetent gov are driven out of office.
Just imagine if we were in a conflict & needed food to supply our soldiers? what would they do then? protect some clapped out feral pig country to the detriment of out national security? one wonders.

one wonders if you've seen that country..its less than marginal most of the time. these guys breed them in view of potential sale. . its never a sure thing. the other point is the australian public demanded this.. is that so foreign a concept ? a government doing what the country demanded ? despite the rhetoric, the cattlemen care little about the stock apart from a potential sale. they shoot them out of a fit of pique half the time.

You know what, I live in the bush, have seen the high country with and without cattle. With cattle (in specific areas) the cattle keep the underbrush down, without, the high country explodes into flames, simple as that, well, it is to this country girl anyway.

My son lived in Benambra near Omeo in the Victorian Alpine country for many years when the cattle were allowed to graze in the national parks. That was abolished and 2 years later a fire swept through the high country, through Omeo and surrounded Benambra. There was more damage done to the rivers - running black with ash. Most farmers in the area lost all their fences and a lot of cattle and a lot birds and native animals lost their lives and those that survived lost their homes. I know what I prefer and I am non political in my thoughts. Just a country person knowing and seeing more than the city dwellers who have no real idea.

I just listened to a fantastic interview and the farmer told exactly what was going on... she said that there is not enough feed for them to buy... what is available is so popular that the prices are sky high... and she said some farms would need a semi load a day and no amount of money would make that affordable and there is just not that much feed bails out there.
They don't want hand outs... they just want hand ups...

I'm a country girl & I know what I'm talking about. This disgraceful government & previous governments have locked up vast areas of this country. They abrogated a lot of our national parks over to the world heritage commission.
Bob Carr went into overdrive locking in parks just weeks before he resigned.
I have seen the devastation & starvation of native animals because they can no longer access areas of this country. I have seen first hand the nazi's at National parks & wildlife use their power to shut the vast majority of citizens out of parks & only allow a narrow trail which you must not deviate from.
I have seen the parks & wildlife nazi's ban killing a dangerous crocodile in a billabong in a top end community that threatened children.
I have seen the destruction of fire trails & controlled buring to alleviate the hot fires that now sweep through & destroy everything.
I saw the near demise of the Lachlan river when they decided to cut off the flow & it devastated all towns & wetlands down stream, they presided over the total drying up of Lake Cargelligo, never happened before in the living memory of Australians.
Don't lecture me on the sanctity of national parks, many of them are clapped out & good for nothing. Don't google & link from your very comfortable office chairs unless your've been out there, seen it, seen the heartache & devastation.
Don't even get me started on the marine lockups.
Does anybody know how many properties the Greens are snapping up only to lock them up for eternity??
