What's embarrassing is that we were probably gathering this information partly in order to share it with the US intelligence service.
Julie Bishop visited the USA just after this spy scandal story broke and had talks with John Kerry the US Secretary of State.
I just bet the conversation went something along the lines of . . . "geez John we're in the poo. What do you want us to do about it?"
